Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones and
children spent Friday afternoon
and Saturday in Harper with
relatives.

of San Antonio were visitors in
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Real were
in Harper Monday evening to
attend the Bode-Parker wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Peril and
little son were shopping in Har-
per Monday evening.
Seven persons lost their lives
in Texas traffic accidents during
the week-end and another receiv-
ed fatal burns while attempting
to operate a flame thrower.
Early Saturday a truck over-
turned and caught fire three
miles east of Austin, trapping
and burning to death four occu-
pants.
They were Mrs. Olivia Salazar,
24; Mrs. Mary G. Whited, 39; and
Atilano Mechaca, 48, of Austin,
and Macedonia Contrareras, 54,
of Del Rio.
At Fredericksburg, Joe Schaet-
ter, 77, received fatal injuries ear
ly Sunday when he was struck
by an automobile on the Kerrvil-
le highway.
Mrs. Thomas Lee "Butler, 21, of
Snyder, received fatal injuries in
a three-car collision Sunday 14
miles east of Snyder.
Sharon Ann Cherry, 4, of Mala-
koff, died in a Corsicana hospital
Saturday night of injuries receiv-
ed in an automobile accident at
Powell. The death recorded Na-
varro County’s 100th traffic fatal-
' ity of 1946.
In Houston, Edwin Yount, 30,
of Houston died Sunday night
from burns received early Friday
while attempting to operate a
flame thrower, which exploded
as he was burning weeds on a
lot at the Jorgensen Steel Com-
pany.

Joseph Schaetter was born on
Oct. 15, 1869 in Germany, a son
of Henry and Lisetta Schaetter.
1 His wife, the former Miss Anna
| Jung, who preceded him in death,
! died on July 27, 1937. To this
! union were born eight children,
I five of whom survive; they be-
jing: Hilmar, Edwin, Arthur and
Henry Schaetter, and Miss Mar-
garet Schaetter. One son, Alex,
and one daughter died in infancy,
and one daughter, Annie, died on
Sept. 2, 1941.
In addition there survive one
sister: Mrs. Adeline McClure of
San Antonio; seven grandchild
ren, as well as other relatives and
a host of friends who mourn
! his departure. Deceased was pre-
! ceded in death by two brothers:
j Henry and John Schaetter, and
| one sister, Louise,
ter, Louise.
j Funeral services were conduct-
ed Tuesday morning from the
' Schaetter Funeral Home at 10
a. m. and at St. Mary’s Church at i
10:30 a. m. with interment being
made in the Catholic Cemetery in
Fredericksburg. |
Officiating at the services
were: Msgr. F. X. Wolf, cele-
brant; Rev. Thomas Coleman,I
deacon; and. Rev. James Daly,,
sub-deacon. A solemn requiem j
high mass was recited with Msgr.
Wolf, Revs. Coleman and Daly
officiating at the funeral home
on Monday evening.
