SWIM TEAM ENDS SI MMER SEASON
The North Shore Swim Team closed the summer season by
* ming frve first places The city and area championship meet
held at the Santa Fe pool drew over 200 swimmers and resulted in
many new pool records Jay Kelsey set a record for eight and
under boys k the S yard breaststroke In the 10 and under boys.
Bobby McCiads made a new mark in the 50 yard breaststroke In
the same event for girts Lisa Kelsey set a record, and Diane
Kelsey as well m the 50 yard freestyle for senior girls
INGLESIDE FACULTY TO BE HONORED
Faculties and staffs of Ingleside Schools will be honored at a
reception Monday night m the Ingleside High School Cafetonum

the faculty for the 1967 68 school year Officers for the

GIANT RAY FISH CAUGHT
A giant ray fish was caught September 11 from Horace Caldwell
p*er at Port Aransas The fish, which measured nine feet from tip
to tip * as hooked by Dr Davis and landed by Don Howard after a
three hour battle Estimates of the rays weight range up to 900
pounds

Free ferry service between Port Aransas and Harbor Island,

day the usual one dollar toll per car will be omitted The test
authorized by Nueces County authorities, is an unofficial one Its

NEW A P LIBRARY TO BE READY FOR BOOKS SOON
The basic building to house the Aransas Pass public library is
complete and all that remains before it becomes a reality is a lot
of work and detail- The attractive brick building at Wheeler Ave
and Lamont S* must first be received from the contractors by
E D Richmond at a cost of $20,000 for presentation to the city
Next Richmond will turn over the library keys to Mayor A N
Garrett at a ceremony vet to be arranged
VP SCHOOL BUILDING SPEEDED
Purchase of four lots running parallel to Highway 35 adjoining
property now occupied by buildings of the Aransas Pass High
School was announced today by George Oark. chairman of the
School Board The purchase makes possible immediate action in
proceeding with the trustees school building and improvement
program for which $200,000 worth of school tax bonds were sold
late in June
CONGRESS BOOST GIVEN CHANNELS IN REDFISH BAY
Future-possibility of federal maintenance of two channels in
Redfish Bay. which could give open access to the Aransas Pass
boat basin by night and day. has been given a boost forward in
Washington DC Congressman John Young has notified City
Manager Fred Robbins of the action which came last week when
the House of Representatives Committee on Public Works
approved study of Ransom Island Channel and South Channel
