At Schools
A Treasure Chest of Reading
is in store for the children of
the Levelland Elementary Sch-
ools this summer when the Ele-
mentary L ibrarians launch the
Treasure ChestReadingClubon
May 29. This is our Vacation
Reading Program, and we are
looking forward to a big sum-
mer.
The reading of 5 books will
earn the Treasure Chest card.
This is a large card with the
picture of a Treasure Chest w ith
gold coins around it. On the
back will be room to write the
names of the books read. Af-
ter a student reads the 5 books
and earns the Treasure Chest
card, a gold coin sticker will
be earned for each book read.
Fifteen of these stickers are
needed for the reader to com-
plete the coins surrounding the
Treasure Chest and become an
honor member of the Treasure
Chest Readers’ Club, making a
total of 20 books required for
this achievement.
A list of these honor mem-
bers from each school will be
sent to the principal for spe-
cial recognition in September.
School officials hope the
word will “spread” to students
and to parents, in order that they
may help their children to know
that reading is fun and that the
l ibrary is a Treasure Chest for
those who will dig in and read
this summer!
