Fort Worth Children's Museum displays include prehistoric animals that once roamed
Texas.
LIVING HISTORY IN TEXAS MUSEUMSA growing number of museums, constant-
ly adding to their collections of Texana, pro-
vide opportunities to see objects associated
with the development of this region from be-
fore the time there was written history until
today. Serious students and casual visitors on
vacation both will find much to interest them.
The displays are especially valuable in stimu-
lating a lasting appreciation of Texas among
young people.
The information and pictures which fol-
low are designed to encourage visits to the
museums. They are not intended to include
all museums, but only those which recog-
nized authorities have chosen as being of
more than local interest. Many other mu-
seums are listed in the county descriptions
under Tourist Attractions.
The first listing contains museums that
are primarily historical. The next list is of
those that are devoted chiefly to art, although
their collections may have much of historical
interest.
