Police: Homeless man threatens to kill man at soup kitchen

Denton police arrested a
58-year-old homeless man
Wednesday morning when he
allegedly threatened a 54-year-
old man with a knife and BB
gun outside Our Daily Bread.
According to an arrest affi-
davit, an off-duty officer radioed
for assistance when two men
got into a fight about 10:20 a.m.
in the 300 block of West Oak
Street. He said one man, later
identified as Dorsey Stanley,
was threatening the victim with
a knife and what appeared to be
told police Wednesday that she
didn’t give anyone permission

Circle — Employees at a wood-
working company were unhap-
py to see that someone dumped
more than a dozen rubber tires
on their property sometime
Wednesday night.
According to a police report,
a worker at Rutledge Wood
Products Inc. called police about
10:15 a.m. and said someone
had left 13 tires on the property
without permission.
A report was taken for illegal
dumping.
900 block of Eagle Drive
— A 21-year-old man reported
his TV stolen out of his student
The woman contacted po-
lice about 12:20 p.m. and said
someone took her 2002 Dodge
Dakota between 3 and 6 a.m.

vehicle, according to a police re-

142 calls for service and made
10 arrests.
■ Denton firefighters re-
sponded to 25 medical calls,
three vehicle crashes, one build-
ing fire and one grass fire.

in the neck and left him lying
on the ground,” Stanley said
according to the affidavit. “If he
died, that’s not my problem.”
The victim, along with sever-
al witnesses, corroborated that
Stanley threatened the man. He
was arrested and charged with
aggravated assault with a deadly
weapon.
That was the second assault
incident reported at that loca-
tion on Wednesday.
Officers also arrested
a 34-year-old man about
9:20 a.m. because he allegedly
punched a 21-year-old wom-
an in the face. He was taken to
Denton City Jail and charged
with assault family violence.
Other reports
1300 block of Scripture
Street — A pizza delivery driv-
er told police he was robbed
and assaulted early Wednesday
morning during a delivery to a
student apartment complex.
Employees called police
when the 30-year-old man re-
turned from the incident at the
City Parc at Fry Street apart-
ments about 1 a.m. According to
a police report, he told officers
four men punched him in the
face and took the pizza without
a gun.

The Denton County Repub-
lican Party will host four chats
starting Aug. 11 to learn what
is important to Denton Coun-
ty Republicans, according to a
news release.
The series, “4 Corner Cof-
fees,” will be four sit-down
coffee sessions with Denton
County Republican Party
Chairwoman Jayne Howell,
Republican-elected officials
and candidates.
The sit-downs will take
place in the four corners of
Denton County.
The first sit-down with the
party will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
at Fuzzy’s Taco Shop at 115 In-
dustrial St. in Denton.
