Organized Clime Controversy Erupts In Washington

Who Nose!
BY LYNDELL KENLEY
I am a little disappointed
in some of our local gov-
ernment executives. Back in
the late 1960’s the State at
Texas passed a law making
it a CRIMINAL OFFENSE
to fail to mark plainly all
publicly owned vehicles.
The City of Levelland has
for the last few years been
using the nice shiney decal
that says “City of Lively
Levelland so-and-so depart-
ment.” I notice now that
they’re operating a number
of vehicles without the de-
cals — including the police
cars and the car used by the
city manager.
. However the City is not
the only violator....the coun-
ty commissioner?, the
sheriff, the public schools
and others Fm sure are op-
erating vehicles without
proper marking.
The thing here is that
many of these cars are used
by the individuals as per-
sonal transportation and it
could be embarassing oc-
casionally if they were
merited. The law was passed
for that reason. If they’re

The school superintendent
and his business manager
both operate publicly owned
cars. There are others in the
school system. Probably
there are some at the Col-
lege, I don't know.
I feel that they should all
be marked to comply with
the law immediately. This is
a CRIMINAL OFFENSE. It
would be difficult for me to
accept a traffic ticket from a
cop who is breaking the law
by not having his car
marked. The law is very
specific about how these
cars should be marked.
They can do what they
want in this respect. Mark
them or not. However, the
next time one of them
doesn’t do to suit you — go
down and file criminal
charges against them. The
County Attorney says that
he WILL accept a complaint
against them.

The Betamax Videocassette Recorder works like
a tape deck. But better. Because it records both
picture and sound. With simple connections to your
TV receiver, it allows you to enjoy your television
in ways that have never before been possible: you
can record the program you are watching (or any
part of it); record one program while you watch
another; or even record a program while you are
away from home (with our optional Betamax Clock
Watcher digital dock timer). And play back
everything you like, whenever you like. On high-
quality 1 /2' Sony videocassettes. Easy-to-handle,
easy-to-store, re-usable, and economical.
