It's King Smith, Queen Rabb
NEWMAN
Funeral services Tor Jack New-
man, 73, of Llano were held Tues-
day. June 6 at the First Baptist
Church in Llano with Rev. Rick
Cbndieff and Rev. Jerald Moore of-
ficiating. Burial was at Llano City
Cemetery.
He was born August 17, 1921 in
Abilene and died June 3, 1995 in
Llano.
He was a butcher and a grocery
store operator. During WWII, he
served with the U.S. Army. He
married Dorothy Sisco on Decem-
ber 3, 1949 in Clovis New Mexico.
He had been a resident of Llano
since 1972, coming from Albu-
querque. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church in Llano and a
member of the Young At Heart Se-
nior Club at the Church.
Survivors include his wife
Dorothy Newman of Llano; one
daughter Mrs. Vernon (Jackie)
Simpson of Llano; one sister Opal
Goad of Miami, Florida; three
grandchildren; and three great
grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ray Skidmore,
Lynn Hoy, Jim Calloway, Jim
Foster, Roy Winbum and Paul
McCarty. Honorary pallbearers were
Ezra Cook, Weldon McCullough,
Lee Duncan, Bruce Woouon, Ray
Walker, Clarence Wilson, Ken
Rhoades, Eric Meador and Tim
Faircloth.
Memorials may be made to the
First Baptist Church Building Fund
in Llano or the American Cancer
Society.

Funeral services for Hazel (Tyne)
Stephens Greene, 73, of Llano were
held Saturday, June 3 at Sunset
Funeral Home Chapel with inter-
ment following at Sunset Memorial
Park.
She died Wednesday, May 31,
1995.
She lived most of her life in
Llano. She was a member of the
Eastern Star, Chapter #216, in
Llano where she served as a Worthy
Matron. She was also a member of

"Beanie" Rowden,'
were held Monday, June 5
Waldropc Hatfield Hawthorne Fu-
neral Home in Kingsland with Rev.
Max Copeland officiating. Burial
was at Sandy Mountain Cemetery
in Sunrise Beach.
She was born August 14, 1917
in Georgetown and died June 2,
1995 in Austin.
She was a homemaker and a long
time resident of Kingsland coming
from Austin. She was married to
R.H. Rowden on November 24,
1976 in Seguin.
She was preceded in death by
three sisters Dorothy Helms,
Naomi Macklin, and Georgia Ruth
Hurt; and three brothers Leon Hurt,
Jim Hurt, and Wilson Hurt.
Survivors include her husband R.
H. Rowden of Kingsland; one
brother Jack Hurt of Austin; six
step children; seventeen grandchil-
dren and several great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were A.W. Precce,
James Cantwell, David Cantwell,
Randy Smith, Time Skaggs, Jason
Skaggs and John Wiley.
HIILSMEIER
Funeral services for Hattie
McClary Hiilsmeier, 86, of New
Braunfels were held Monday, June 5
at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home
with Rev. Charles DeHaven offici-
ating. Burial was at Llano City
Cemetery in Llano with Rev. Rick
CundiefT officiating.
She was born June 8, 1908 in
Round Rock and died June 2, 1995
in New Braunfels.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Ed Hiilsmeier in October
1978.
Survivors include three daughters
Johnnie Ellie Marshall and. husband
Doyle of New Braunfels, Pearl
Murray of Llano, Donna Wilery and
husband Wayne of New Braunfels;
four sons Clyde McClary and wife
Barbara of New Braunfels, Ezra
McClary and wife Martha of San
Antonio, Dennis Springer and wife
Dee of Abilene, Ivan Gene Springer
and wife Brenda of San Antonio;

She was born September 23,
1911 in Boeme and died on Satur-
day, June 3,1993 in Boeme.
She was a life long resident of
Boeme except for the last five years
Jacob Smith
is 1995 King
when she lived in Fredericksburg
and Llano area due to ill health. She
was a member of St. Helena's
Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her
first husband, Tony Bergmann in
1948; her second husband, Judd Hill
in 1970; and by one sister, Ida Gre-
sham.
Survivors include her son and
daughter-in-law. Jack and Maudie
Bcrgmann of Comfort, and daughter
and son-in-law Jill and Sam Tate of
Llano; two/grand children, Jeffery
Bergmann of Comfort and Robin
Bergmann of Boeme; three great
grandchildren; three sisters, Audrey
Youngblood and Elsie Luther, both
of San Antonio and Lou Ella Gray
of Dallas.
Pallbearers were Sam Tate, Jeff
Bergmann, Robin Bergmann, Gary
Gresham, and William Gammon
"Sonny" Davis. III.
Honorary pallbearers were James
"Bud" Hughes and Clyde "Speck"
Voges.

Tradition in Horseshoe Bay.
The day after the flood we went
to do what turned out to be ten
loads of flooded laundry. These fine

Pam Stephens; a daughter and son-
in-law, Surita and Terry Adams; six
step grandchildren; three grandchil-
dren; 10 step grandchildren; and five
step great grandchildren.

Graveside services for John L.
Gilbreath, 82, of Marble Falls was
Monday, June 5 at Ft. Sam Hous-
ton National Cemetery in San An-
tonio with U.S. Army Chaplin
Eggleston officiating. Burial was at
Ft Sam Houston National Ceme-
tery in San Antonio.
He was bom October 8, 1912 in
Marshall and died May 30, 1995 in
Llano.
He was a Marble Falls resident
for 19 years coming from San An-
tonio. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Marble
Falls. He was also retired from the
U. S. Army.
Survivors include his daughter
Judy Finch of Germany; two sons
Paul Gilbreath of San Jose, CA and
Dan Gilbreath of San Diego; and
five grandchildren.

GRAY
Graveside services for Estelle
Gage Gray, 83, of Cherokee and
San Saba were held Monday, June 5
at the San Saba Cemetery in San
Saba.
She was bom May 3, 1912 in
Bend and died June 3, 1995 in
Llano.
She had been a homemaker and a
lifetime resident of Cherokee and
San Saba. She was a member of the
Cherokee Church of ChrisL
She was preceded in death by one
son Jerry Arlan Gray, two brothers
and one sister.
Survivors include two sons
Charles L. Gray of Cherokee and
Ken Gray of Kingsland; three sis-
ters Oneida Roy of San Saba,
Wilma Johnson of San Saba,
Norene Lctbetter of San Saba; two
brothers Wilton Gage of San Saba
William Gage, Jr. of San Saba; six
grandchildren; twelve great grand-
children and two great grandchil-
dren.
Pallbearers were Boyd Wayne
Gray, Shane Gray, Elliott Fikes,
Lee Pickett, Boyd Staedtlcr, Warren
Homesley, Blaine Matthews, Gar-
rett Gray, Mike Gray and Randy
Gray.

Friday at the Llano Rodeo Lesa
Larremore was presented as the
outgoing 1994 Rodeo Queen. She
has represented Llano very well.
Jacob Smith, 18 year old son of
Wayne and Ramona Smith was
presented as the 1995 Rodeo King.
Jacob received a handsome bell
buckle from the 1995 Queen nomi-
nees. Lesa did the honors of pre-
senting Jacob with his belt buckle,
after which the 1995 Llano Rodeo
Queen nominees were presented,
James Stewart announced for the
Queen contest on Friday.
Saturday at the Llano rodeo Lesa
Larremore and Jacob Smith was
again presented. The nominees pre-
sented were, Tonya Sawyer, Sandy
Isenbcrger, Elissa Smith, Casey
Rabb, Angela Polk. They rode into
the arena saluting the crowd in true
rodeo form. Each nominee received
a single red rase from King Jacob.
Casey Rabb won best personality,
horsemanship, best float and most
tickets sold. Casey also won best
float in the parade from the Cham-
ber of Commerce. Jacob received
his Rodeo King sash. The 2nd run-
ner up for 1995 Queen was Elissa
Smith and 1st runner up for 1995
was Angela Polk.
Llano Rodeo Queen for 1995,-
Cascy Rabb was announced. Casey
received her crown from Lesa, her
sash and boi quel of roses from Ja-
cob.
Saturdays festivities were an-
nounced by Diane Oatman. Casey,
Angela and Elissa will represent
Llano on the Chamber of Com-
merce float in surrounding area pa-
rades this summer. „
