Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Sandifer, formerly of Teague, now of
San Antonio, announce the engagement and approaching
marriage of their daughter, Jo Nell, to Eugene T. San-
ford, son of Mr. and Mils. ,S. C. Sanford of Nacogdoches,
Texas. The marriage will be held in Houston, where both
Jo Nell and Gene live, on September 22. Jo Nell is the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Sandifer of Teague.

Has Monthly Meet
The Business and Professional
Women’s Club held its regular
monthly business meeting- on
Monday evening, August 6, in
the club room att he Teague
Public Library at 7:30 o’ lock,
with the club president, Mrs.
Eleanor Shermon, presiding.
Miss Dell Grice, international
relations chairman, made a re-
port of the Executive Council
meeting, which was held on the
precedng Friday evening for the
purpose of planning the program
for the new club year.
The possibility of appointing
a permanent librarian was dis-
cussed, but no decision made.
Miss Ruth Lee is serving as
librarian for the month cf
August. The library is open
every Tuesday and Thursday
afternoon from 3 to 5 o'clock.
Concessions for the Freestone
County Fair were discussed, and
the club decided to sell coffee
! and cake or pie, and to operate
a snow cone machine on the
fair grounds. Mrs. R. W. Law-
rence and Miss Estell Dodd wer;
appointed co-chairmen for the
food concession. Shetland pony
rides for the kiddies were de-
cided upon .with Miss Dell Grice
and Mrs. R. W. Lawrence as co-
chairmen for carnival attractions.
Mrs. Willie Owens and Mrs.
1 Siddie Owens were appointed
co-chairmen to make arrange-
j ments for a morning coffee and
union church service during Na-
I tional Women’s Week, Septem-
ber 2329.
The Citizen’s Council 1 repre-
sentative was instructed to sug-
gest a fall style show for the
first of October and a street car-
nival for October 31, proceeds to
be used on indebtedness of the
Public Library.
The next meeting will be on
Monday evening, August 20, at
7:30 o'clock, and all members
are urged to be present.

The Future Homemakers o'
the Teague High School met at
the home of their sponsor, Miss
Ruth Lee, 620 Elm, Wednesday
morning, August 8, at 10 o’clock,
for their regular monthly meet-
ing.
Pat Beasley, chapter president,
called the meeting to order, ana
til ter the reading of the
minutes by Wanda Hullum, sec-
retary, the roll was checked by
each member, summarizing her
summer experiences.
Under old business, conces-
sions, exhibits, and parades for
the Freestone County Fair and
the Fairfield Centennial Celebra-
tion were discussed and some
decisions made.
The F. H. A. reorganization
nrogram was explained, and ad-
vantages discussed. Instead of
being situated in the far north-
west comer of the area, with
Huntsville serving as area head-
quarters, Teague will be nearer
the center of the area with Wa-
co as headquarters. Mias Billie
Williamson will be the new area
supervisor and counselor.
A study of color combinations
for the interior of the homemaik-
ing cottage, which is being re-
floored and re-walled, was made,
and a pastel color scheme
decided upon. The use of three
tones of the same color will be
featured in all rooms except the
bath.
Iced drinks, assorted cookies,
and mints were served during
the meeting by Pat Beasley,
Mary Collins and Shirley Barger.
The next meeting will be on
Tuesday morning, Angust 28,
10 o’clock, at the home of Mias
Lee. and all F. H. A. members
are urged to be present.
The meeting adjourned with
the club song, "Sing Your Way
Home.”

| laneous shower in the Methodist

Mrs, E. O. Price greeted the
| guests at the door, and pre-
sented them to Mrs. Shaw and
I her mother, Mrs. C. L. Mitchum.
The reception table was laid
'with a beautiful imported
, drawn work cloth and held a
lovely centerpiece of white and
yellow daisies, with a tiny net
umbrella Sn the center, frorh
which fell yellow and white
streamers of satin ribbon, yel-
low candles in crystal candelab-
ra completed the table arrange-
ment. From this settinug Mrs.
Richard Jarvis and Misses
Emmy McKissaok, Laverne Bal-
dree and Patricia Phillips serv-
ed lime sherbert punch with as-
sorted coofldes.
Mrs. Tommy Jenkins presided
at the bride’s book, where about
35 guests registered.
The many beautiful and use-
ful gifts were displayed on long
tables in the reception room.
W. A. Seay of Corsicana visit
ed his mother, Mrs. Sam Seay,
Monday.
