"The monthly business and
fellowship meeting of the J-O-Y
class, ot the Eighth Avenue
Baptis# Church Sunday School,
was held In teh home of Mrs
D. J. Jackson on August 11-
The program committee for
the evening was Mrs. J. R. Tur-
ner and Mrs. B H. Tyus. Mrs.
Turner’s subject was. “Doing
Greater Things," using Paul as
an example. Mrs. Tyus read a
poem, entitled Prayer.
The offering for the evening
was deslganted for the loud
speaker tor the auditorium. This
offering brought the total for
this project to $30.00 from the
class. As other classes - of the
Sunday School are helping with
this, It is hoped the equipment
can soon be Installed.
The meeting in September
will be in the home of Mrs. J.
C. Ham. This will be Y meet-
ing of importance as it is time
to elect officers. All class meml
bers sohujd be present if not
providentially hindered.
Refreshments, consisting of
ice cream and cookies, were
served to seven class members
and the teacher, Mrs. B. H. Ty-
us.

his seventh birtiHday Frida}

mother. Mrs. Olen Harper, en-
tertained, in his "honor, with a
lawn party at their home on
Mulberry.
The guests gathered o-n the

After the gifts . were opened I
and the candles blown out, ice

stationed at Ellington Field.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Martin
returned home last week from
Fort Worth, where they visited
their daughter, Mrs. E. B. Key,
Mrs. Key accompanied them
home and all went on to Kil-
gore and Longview tor a visit
with another daughter and son.
