conservation would help,
stressing that all cities in the
District - Hamilton, Comanche,
De Leon, Dublin, Gorman, and
all other rural customers - should
make a concerted effort to save
water.
Pirkle added that if mandatory
water restrictions were put into
place, it would certainly take
everyone in the District practicing
water conservation to make an
impact.
Pirkle also said that we are not
to the point of water rationing yet,
but if we don’t receive rainfall,
rationing could become
necessary.
So, it’s my suggestion, that as
of right now, it would be wise to
voluntarily conserve water until
we get that "big rain.”
And remember, we survived the
drought of the 50's and we will
survive again. After all, like the
old timers say, “ Every day we are
one day closer to rain!”
We all know how fortunate we
are to have Lake Proctor, to have
had all those people, over thirty
years ago, who had the foresight
to know that we would need
more water in the future, and for
those like Gary Lacy and Gyale
Pirkle who work wdlUhe, Upper
Leon Municipal Water District,
providing "precious” water for
our communities.

Letter to
the Editor
It has crossed my desk again—a
frantic letter asking people to write
the Federal Communication
commission about an alleged
petition from Atheists to force the
FCC to censor radio and TV
programs
Unfortunately, there is not and
never has been such a petition
Over the past twenty years this
hoax has come up many times,
and the FCC lias been deluged
with worthless mail addressing a
non-existent matter
I appreciate that many people
are concerned for their faith,
however panic m the face of
rumors hardly shows much
wisdom m then faith1
Despite what the e-mail or
letters you might have received
say, you don't need to write about
tins petition1
