you and your family is on a long
car ride, to a friend's house, or
just down the block requires
special attention to food safety.
Special care must be taken to
keep food from being invaded by
germs that can cause food
poisoning.
When traveling with food be
sure to:
— keep hands, cooking tools and
counters clean when preparing
the food.
- Use insulated jugs or coolers to

Heritage Club
holds meeting
The Heritage Club met on
December 12, 2(XX), at the
historical Depot in Brownwood.
Hostesses were President Judy
Elston, Reitha Brannan, Sara Lou
Cox, and Sarah Key. Judv Elston
had planned and prepared the
beautiful decorations using the
theme of Winter Snowflakes.
The ones present were served at
tables covered with cloths of
royal blue with a snowflake
pattern. The mugs, which were
filled with hot cider punch, were
in the same blue and snowflake
pattern as the cloths. The
individual centerpieces were
royal blue glassware containing
white votive candles. Favors of
note pads with the snowflake
pattern marked each member’s
place. A larger table was
centered with an arrangement of
a large blue hurricane lamp and
candle with frosted greenery and
berries. Judy Elston presented a
gift to each one present. A
crystal Angel tree ornament was
wrapped in a blue and snowflake
patterned gift carton.
After the delicious
refreshments, the members
enjoyed an excellent program
presented by Dr. Pepper Dill,
Vice-President of Enrollment at
Howard Payne University. Dr.
Dill is a former Professor of
Drama and Communications, and
he used these skills to present a
dramatic enactment of the book
A Cup of Christmas Tea, by Tom
Hegg. Dr. Dill memorized the
poem soon after it was written
and has presented it at least one
time each year for the last ten
years. Using props and
Christmas music as a
background. Dr. Dill made the
poem "come alive". It was a
very moving, inspirational
program.
The blue and snowflake theme
was all too appropriate as the
wintry weather kept many
members from attending the
meeting. Because of the
weather, the meeting was
adjourned after the program.
The meeting on January 16.
2001, will be at Western Hills
Care Center. Members will bring
cookies for the annual party and
program.
