At 6:50, the Maidens won 2-
Oover Highland Park. Lindsay

won 3-1. Layci Taylor had

runs. Lindsay Armstrong had
one single. Marcie Strube
went two for three, scored one
run and hit a single and a
double. Miranda Boatman
singled. The Maidens had six
hits and Molina had six hits.
Comanche committed no
errors and Armstrong got the
win.
Brown wood 3, Comanche I
This game was a close one
and Comanche took a 1 -0 lead
in the second inning after
Marcie Strube and Kim
Thomas walked. 'Paige
Massingill’s sacrifice bunt
moved Strube into scoring
position and was able to score
on Miranda Boatman’s RBI
single. The Maidens left two
runners on base. In the bottom
half of the second inning,
great defense and pitching
kept the Lady Lions from
scoring. Brownwood loaded
the bases, but three strike-outs
left the Lions behind 1-0.
In the third, Comanche had
Armstrong and Taylor reach
base on singles but were
unable to score and the Lady
Lions had two on and an error
made it a tie game 1-1.
In the fourth. Boatman
singled for the second time
and Kaitlyn Walker walked,
but both runners were
stranded. The Ladv I i«nc
scored two runs on errors and
took the lead 3-1.
In the fifth, with one away,
the Maidens made a come
back with Taylor and Strube
reaching base on singles. The
Maidens failed to score and
the Lady Lions moved on to
the championship game.
Grand Prairie 7, Comanche 3
In the third game, the
Maidens lost a hard contest 7-
3, but never gave up. Pitcher
Lindsay Armstrong went
down in the first inning after
dodging a line drive hit up the
middle. Marcie Strube tpok
over, with Tw.p outaiwd.tbe
Maidens held on to get,out of
the inning and not allow
Grand Prairie to score. The
Maidens scored one run as
Kim Thomas singled and
Marcie’s RBI triple put the
Maidens up one. Grand Prairie
scored two in the second and
five in the third.
Comanche had bases loaded
in the second when Paige
Massingill singled and with
one out, Sara Hodges and
Kenisha Schuster laid down
bunt singles. Comanche was
unable to score leaving three
stranded. In the third, with two
away, Miranda Boatman
singled, Massingill singled
and both scored as Kaitlyn
Walker reached base on an
error by the short stop. The
Maidens trailed 7-3. In the
fourth, with two outs the
Maidens tried again to score
when Armstrong singled and
Laycie Taylor’s single put
runners in scoring position.
Strube’s long fly to right was
qaught and the Maidens fell 7-
3.
Coach Lacy stated that the'
girls are working hard and
getting better each game. We
have to concentrate on getting
on base and manufacturing
runs. This tournament gave us
some work at the plate and
allowed us to see where we
need to improve on defense.
MAIDEN JV SOFTBALL

The Maiden JV softball
team won Friday evening and
again on Saturday afternoon to
capture the consolation title at
the Breckenridge tournament,
improving their season mark to
4-1-1. All games played last
week are listed below.

BASEBALL
The CHS Varsity Indians
finished second in the Bangs
Tournament held last
Thursday and Saturday.
Comanche opened with a
13-12 victory over Earjy. The
Indians were down 10-1 after
two innings of play, but
erupted for nine runs in the
fourth.
Chad Suniga was the
Indians winning pitcher.
Comanche had five homeruns
in the fourth inning. Matt
Boyd had two, and also
homering were Suniga, Cole
Franco, and Sheldon Feist.

In the second contest the
Indians claimed a 9-6 win
over host Bangs. The Indians
trailed 5-0 after two innings,
but scored six in the top of the
third to take the lead.
Sheldon Feist was the
winning pitcher. Cole Franco

game the Indians fell to

Indians third loss to the Bucks
this season.
Wesley Carroll recorded the
loss. Suniga had a homerun,

Coach Speer said, “This was
a good tournament for the
team, the kids came out and
really played well. We had
some young guys really step
up and play during the
tournament. Heading into
Spring Break we are starting

Tournament team.
Sidney/Priddy
girls receive All-
Region honors
Four local girls were
selected for the Texas Six-
man Coaches Association
Girls Basketball All-Region
Teams 2006 for Region IV.
Priddy had three players
selected to the All-Region
teams. Hope Hohertz, a
Senior, was selected for the
First Team; and Kalissa
Priddy, a Sophomore, and
Jessica Rhodes, a Junior, were
selected for the Second Team.
They are coached by Stephen
Heers.
Sidney also had a player
chosen for this All-Region
honor. Megan Norvil, a
Junior, was selected to
represent Sidney on the First
Team. She is coached by Troy
Drummond.
