Letter to the Editor
Hditor,
The recent photograph
showing the wind damage
to a large tree should he a
wake-up call to the tele-
phone people and Texas
Highway Department, es-
pecially along North Austin
(Highway I ft).
A major cable trunk line
for the telephone and related
equipment parallels North
Austin Street. A heavy ice
storm will bring the tree
limbs down along with the
telephone lines. IsComanchc
ready to lose telephone lines
in a potential ice storm?
Heavy truck traffic and
oversized loads have to
dodge over hanging tree
limbs as they move along
Highway lb. Ask the High-
way Department to cut the
over hanging tree limbs
so the trucks do not have
to move over in the other
lanes.

Comanche Electric Cooperative Otters
Leadership Skills Class to Local Students
Each year Comanche
Electric Cooperative teams
up with University of Texas
at Permian Basin to offer a
unique leadership opportu-
nity to schools within the
CECA service area. This
year’s John Ben Shepperd
System of Service (SOS)
Leadership Forum was held
on November 19th at the 4-H
Center at Lake Brownwood.
Approximately 100 stu-
dents from thirteen schools
attended the one day event.
Those schools in attendance
were: Albany, Baird, Bangs,
Comanche, De Leon, Early,
Eastland, Gorman. Gustine,
Mullin, Ranger, Sidney and
Zephyr. These students spent
the first part of the day learn-
ing valuable leadership skills
from local leaders within the
surrounding communities.
The second part of the day
was spent developing a plan
for community action within
their community or school,
and mapping out a plan as
to how they will implement
the program they developed.
Each group of students came
up with an impressive pro-
gram and a workable plan
to get the project completed.
Keep an eye on the students
from these thirteen schools.
You just might see some
amazing leadership taking
place!
