SHINER,

ATLANTA, Ga., May 21.—Indict-
ed this afternoon on a charge of at-
tempting to murder her husband on
March 5, Mrs. Daisy Grace, form-
erly Mrs. Daisy Ulrich Opie, of
Philadelphia, created a sensation by
announcing from her jail cell that
she is in a delicate condition and
expects to become a mother.
Her husband, who is in a paral-
ized state at Newman, does not
know that the woman he accuses of
trying to murder him expects to
Dear him a child.
“I am glad I have been indicted,”
Mrs. Grace said, “and I want an
early trial. I know I will be ac-
quitted.”
Mrs. Grace’s attorneys will take
steps to have her released from jail
on bofid.
As related in The Saturday Blade
at the time, Mr. Grace was found
shot in his home here on the after-
j noon of March 5. He was locked
in. Mrs. Grace had left the house
about noon to visit Grace’s mother
in Newman. Grace alleges his wife
drugged and shot him, locked him
in to die and went to Newman to
establish an alibi. Grace said her
motive was to get $25,000 insur-
ance on his life she had induced
him to take out. The telephone in
the Grace home had been plugged
and the doorbell muffled. Mrs. Grace
declares the charge outrageous.
Mrs. Grace is about 36 years old
and married Grace last year soon
after the death of her first hus-
band, Webster Opie, in Philadelphia.

Rev. T. J. Dow, former pastor of
the Grand Avenue Christian Church
here, is being sued in the District
Court for $25,000 by Dr. Fred
Woodward, who says the pastor
stole his wife’s affections.
Dr. Woodward is now blind. Ac-
cording to his story, when blindness
camefippon him he called on the

IJe#sa*3 the pasto^pro-^,
ceeded both to comfort him and
make love to his wife. He alleges
he crept through a cellar window
and heard the pastor and his wife
plan to elope. He says he rushed
into the room, and, although un-
able to see his antagonist, attacked
him. He swears that the next day
; his wife eloped with the pastor,
who already was married, his wife
now being in Iowa.
Emille Mosse, an invalid boarder
in the doctor’s home, testified that
the pastor would kiss the doctor’s
wife behind the door, and called her
“dearie.”
