I would rather not talk about that
now, as wiiat men say at this time is
much the result of temper and par*

prohibitionist have tiled to read the
j antis out of the Democratic parly and
I suppose the prohibiloinisl compos.

the probability of a minority turning
out the majority, if it should turn out
that the prohibitionist have a major
ity of the Democratic party it would
seriously complicate such a question.
I think the prohibitionists acted in
the pale of the party, and the other
fellows, as testeil by the resolution of
kii kiiix out, hot have succeeded in
overcoming iis by uuiiing wills- the
Republicans nnd almost the entire
negroes. I think tost the good ne-
groes and republicans voted with us
and the hud ones witli them. 1 un-

made with them enough negroes,

AitfH Cochkan in an interview with

voted the anti tieket. This leaves 75,-
000 less the total anti vote to he Dem-

Democracy is pretty equally divided
pro and anti. Tile antis w ill have a
happy time reading the pros nut of
the Democratic party when they are
about equally divided.
Ax editor's work is seldom esteemed
or compensated. A lawyer will give
you live minutes advice on a topic
and charge yon $5 for it. An editor
will will give you advice on a hundred
topies and charge you fivo cents per
copy for his paper, atyl very often five
cents given to an editor would save
$6 given to a lawyer. In fuet, no
business is so universally robbed ami
swindled out of their labor and cap-

Wk hear, at this late hour, men jaw-
ing over "what bent prohibition?''
Rome say Anheuser Bush Ulood-mon-

prohibition was defeated—and we be-
lieve it to he the true nnd only reison:
Simply because tho amend mcnl tailed
to receive tho required number of vo-
tes to adopt it—and another is, ho-
oauso the anti side got too ninny

The antis are jubilant over thoirvic-
tory. When the campaign first opened
up they claimed Van Zandt 0 to 1 n-
gainst the amendment. She rocked
on a while and then they clamed 3 to
1 against the amendment. Up to a
few weeks ol the election some of
them would he satisfied with a 1000
majority. After it dwindled down to
within a few days of the election some
of them only claimed front 590 to 8<X)
Had the election linen in Heptomber
