Ingleside and Aransas Pass.
A small chapel with a
stained glass window provides
a space for anyone who visits
to contemplate the loss of a
loved one or the safety of one
going out to sea. On either side
are benches to sit while view-
ing the plaques engraved with
names from history.
Granite markers include
the names of the Shrimporee
Committee who began the
tower and the names of indi-
viduals and businesses whose
donations made it possible.
A bronze plaque includes the
names of local seamen whose
lives were lost at sea.

Special to the Progress
By land or sea, the Seaman’s
Memorial Tower is the first
structure seen by day or night
at Conn Brown Harbor. Stand-
ing 80 feet tall, the simple white
concrete tower with a plain 20-
foot cross on top and a wooden
carved crucifix on the front,
is a reminder of local persons
who lost their lives at sea.
Seaman’s Memorial Tower
was built on land donated by
the City of Aransas Pass but the
tower itself exists only because
of donations by individuals,
churches, civic groups and
businesses. These were part of
the communities of Rockport,
