Are you going to vote for the bootlegger... for the racketeer...
for organized crime?

OR ARE YOU GOING TO VOTE FOR TEMPERANCE
J

I.
AND RESPECT FOR LAW?
That is ^che real question which all of us must answer on August 24th! We are sensible
people. let’s face the facts sensibly. There are two roads open to us!
I
WE CAN VOTE THE WAY THE BOOTLEGGER WANTS US TO VOTE!
• We can promise the bootlegger that we will play ball
with him.... that we won’t interfere with his vast crimi-
nal liquor business That’s what we have done during
Prohibition , .. we have watched millions of our dollars
support Qur criminal element in luxury .. while we our-
selves struggle to pay taxes for legitimate purposes. We
can say to the bootlegger .. “Here are our children; you
educate them into disrespect for law. We can’t stop
you, so you might as well continue serving them your
poisonous drinks they are at an age when it is smart
to break the law, when it is an adventure to drink in
secret’’ And the bootlegger will be delighted because
here are new customers new dollars to finance his
traffic new dollars with which to corrupt those who
stand in his way The bootlegger will be very happy in-
deed if you will vote for him!
OR, WE,CAN VOTE TRUE TEMPERANCE AND LAW AND ORDER!
• We can vote for repeal Repeal will put the bootlegger
out of business! Repeal will end the bootlegger s power
to corrupt! Repeal will put thousands of dollars m taxes
from legal liquors to work for the good of oui state
dollars that will pay for free^school books foi oui children
. . . dollars that will help balance our states budget!
Repeal will mean thousands of jobs for citizens of Texas
. . . new hope for the unemployed! And repeal means
that drinking will be brought out into the open where it
can be oontioiled by the force of public opinion where
education foi true temperance can be effective!
Let's protect oui children against the example of lawless-
ness! Let's restore law and oidei tc Texas* Vote for repeal!
Vote the bootleggei OUT . VOTE LAW AND ORDER IN!
