If there were any doubts of who

Property Tax
Appraisal
by Tracy Boucbier
If you are dissatisfied with your
property tax appraisal, the first step
is to call the appraiser and see if you
can resolve the problem. If that
doesn't work you need to fill out a
Notice of Protest form. The deadline
for filing is August I, 1997. Be sure
to keep a copy and either hand de-
liver or send certified mail with a re-
turn receipt to the tax office.
When filling out your Notice of
Protest form check the appropriate
box ih Step 3 of the form i.e. "value is
over market value," or the value is
unequal compared to other proper-
ties, etc. Step 4 should be filled out
accordingly: no improvements, no
road access, unequal appraisal value.
To show proof of unequal appraisal
\ alue contact the Appraisal District
for a listing of property value!* in '
your area, contact a real estate bro-
ker, or call a neighbor.
The actual Review Board Hearing
is informal. However, the property
owner should come prepared to
prove his property value is too high
or unequal compared to other prop-
erties. The evidence a property owner
can show is the listing of comparable
property sales for your area.
The thing to remember is, in order
to fight your Tax Appraisal you must
file the Notice of Protest form and
attend the hearing. You cannot file
suit until you have gone through the
above procedures.

Hi everyone! Hope you are all en-
joying these beautiful, sunny sum-
mer days Hove the summer when
the Earth is foil of bright sunshine
and a fcileidoscope oTbrilliant col-
ors! The beauty of it all is well worth
the heat we have to endure. And if
you don't agree with me, then as my
preacher says, "you do have the right
to be wrong!"
First of all I would like to thank
Betty Barnes, for filling in for me
Monday 7. The residents enjoyed
sittercise with Betty and in the after-
noon they had a fon game of balloon
play. That is, until Billie Dendy busted
the balloon! But Billie pleads inno-
cence! That's her story and she's
sticking to it!
Here's yet another reason to love
the summer. The heat we so often
complain about sure gives us an ex-y*
cellent excuse to indulge in those
calorie filled goodies. Residerlts and
staff alike enjoyed cooling off
Wednesday with a delicious ice
cream cone. We also thank Elvira for
the sweet, cool, watermelon she
brought to share with all of us.
We want to send a loving thanks
out to the members of the De Leon
Christian Fellowship Church. Thank
you for coming and sharing the Gos-
pel of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. Age has always been such a
determining factor in our world. We're
either too young to do this, or too
old to do that. But we can thank God
that we are never too young or old-to
come «o -know Jesus. To all of. you
who are faithful in the sharing of the
Gospel, may God richly bless you.
We thank the Gospel Singers for
their joyous music Thursday
evening. Among the singers were
'Bobbie Conklin, Elsie Robbinett,
Marie White, Jim Grimshaw, Curley
West and Bernice Farley.
Bingo has certainly been exciting
the past week. We had two blackout
winners in each game. Our lucky
blackout winners were Jessie, Wilma,
Wesley and A lice. Other players were
Billie, Robert and Venita.
Now we come to the best part of
summer. A pool party! All of the staff
at the De Lean Nursing Home wants
to thank our administrator (Gary
Ward) for the great party, he threw
for his employees. We won't mention
the fact that he actually threw an
employee or two into the pool and
tried to drown the activity director.
We all had a blast and we thank you
very much Gary.
Our deepest sympathies to the
family and friends of Howard Baker.
May God be with you as you grieve
for the loss of your loved one.
Howard was easy to love and we will
miss him very much.
Till next time, God bless!

(2 Tim 2:20-21KJV) "But in a great
house there are not only vessels of
gold and of silver, but also of wood
and of earth; and some to honour,
and some to dishonour. (21) If a man
therefore purge himself from these,
he shall be a vessel unto honour,
sanctified, and meet for the master's
use, and prepared unto every good
work."
We do not have a choice of
whether we are a vessel or not. We
are all containers. We: are all able to
house jewels or junk, the choice that
we have is whether we are a "vessel
of honor or a vessel or dishonor."
There is a nearly worn out cliche
in this cyberage that says, "garbage
in, garbage out." I'm sure that Ben
Franklin's philosophy may have put
is, differently but this concept is
'ageless. You will receive no better
back than what you put into any-
thing.
Two different men visited the
same cfojrch one Sunday morning
who were in town on a business trip.
On the comment section of the
visitor's card, one stated, "The ser-
vice was boring, unorganized and
was not worth my time." The other
man gave this feedback, "Very uplift-
ing and inspirational, I will be back
again when I am in town.” The pas-
tor remembered their names as they
introduced themselves at the back
door but was a little disturbed at the
negative review of the one. As he
mulled over in his mind as to what he
did right or wrong, he remembered
how the one was so enthusiastic,
how he sang with the congregation,
participated in the offering, smiled
and nodded at good points in the
message and was "baptized in lemon
juice." The difference was not in the
service or the sermon, it was in the
receptacle.
(John 10:10 KJV) "The thief
cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I am come that
they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly."
There are only two resources of
input into our lives, Satan and God.
You choose the resource and you
get the respective results. Once
when my oldest son was about
eleven, he asked if he could preach
for me someday. I told him that on
the watchnight service when we had
several speakers, he could speak for
a few minutes. He put on his best
suit, shined his shoes, carefully pre-
pared his notes and sat on the front
row "chomping at the bits." I was a
little afraid that we were in for a
lengthy message because of all the
preparation, but he surprised us all
when he read one passage then said,
"Life is like a man standing at the
doors at the grocery store, one says
'in' and one says 'out', it's your
choice!" I do not believe any theo-
logian could put it any plainer.
Honor or dishonor, it's your
choice! God bless!!
Power Principle: 'it matters not
what lies before a man or behind, it
matters only what lies within a man.”
