ciate the confidence they
showed by reelecting me to
another two-year term.”
She said there is still a lot
of work to do in the City of
Aransas Pass since Hurri-
cane Harvey made landfall
in August 2017. She pointed
out there were a lot of proj-
ects going on before the
storm and added, “I’m grate-
ful to have the opportunity
to continue to serve the resi-
dents of Aransas Pass.”
Abrego concluded,
pray we unite as one for the
betterment of Aransas Pass
and continue to move for-
ward.”

paign from a hospital bed.”
He believes Aransas Pass
needs a change, recalling

and current and former City

well. Lawrence has been with
the City in some legal profes-
sion capacity for nearly half-
a-century. The Mayor and
Council also presented Law-

his long and productive career

few words, Lawrence received
a standing ovation from the
Council and audience. His fi-

Citywide survey
In July, the City will be
sending a survey to every
household in Aransas Pass
asking what one thinks about
various city services. This will
be used as a baseline measure-
ment for subsequent surveys.

Bulk items, limbs pick-up
The city provides a service
for homes within the city lim-
its that have a garbage account
to pick up those residents’
bulky items and limbs, but
they must be in separate piles.
The maximum city crews will
pick up is 15 cubic yards (ap-
proximately 5 yards by 3 yards
by 1 yard high) per resident.
A parking spot is generally
about 15 cubic yards before
the height is taken into con-
sideration.
Bulk waste is items such
as stoves, water tanks, wash-
ing machines, and furniture.
Refrigerators and air condi-
tioners must be tagged by an
HVAC professional stating
the Freon has been removed.
Items which will not be picked
up are: concrete, hazardous
waste, tires, and construction
debris. This service is not part
of the hurricane debris remov-
al. It is an ongoing city service.
Residents should put bulk
items out on the curbside by
council so the community
can be back on the road to
success.
He wished Abrego all the
best, noting he will most
likely not run again, as his
heart was really not in in it
this time.
The only other position
on the ballot was uncontest-
ed for Place 2 Council mem-
ber. Incumbent Billy Elllis
received 219 votes.

The boats bowline broke and
the boat shipped water, sunk,
and rolled upside down. Fed-
eral and State officials were
notified by Harbor Master
Chuck West. The Coast Guard
and the State’s General Land
Office arrived on the scene
and determined there was no
pollution from the accident.
Two days later, the boat was
re-floated.
