Thomas Edgar Payne, 83, who
practiced medicine and oper-
ated Eastland’s only hospital
for many years, died today aft-
er an extended illness.
He sold the hospital in the
late 1940s, \ i
A native of Garfield. Mo..
Payne came to Texas in 1900.
He was graduated from the Uni-
versity of Texas medical school
at Galveston.
He started practice at Scran-
ton, Eastland County, in 1910,
aftd moved to Eastland in IMS.
Services are pending at Afv
rington-Hammer Funeral Home.
