PEL Baseballers Drop Behind Ships, 2-1
The Ganders visit.... Galena
Park at 7 p.m. Friday, while
the Shippers visit Galena at 7
p.m. Thursday to make up a
rainout and go to Galveston Fri-
day for back-to-back games.
Brazosport’s pitching machine,
David Larson, has hurled all but
of their loop tilts and will
undoubtably get the green light
against one of this week's foe.
The Ganders will open with
junior righthander Norman
Montgonwry. on the mound
against Galena, sportffig a be-
low 1.00 learned run average.
In the fourth inning Exporter
first baseman Tim Davis tripled
to righteentor and was singled
in by catcher Billy OT?arr,
O’Barr stole second base and
rightfielder Jerry Lewellen
tipped one off to Boswell. Bos-
well left the mound, picked up
the ball and made a bad throw
to first, allowing Lewellen to
first.
Second baseman Alan Acosta
backed first baseman Hand up
and came up with a good stop
to catch O'Barr between third

the winning run scored.
Boswell singled to left to open
the third inning for the Gan-
ders, which had the earmarks
of success after pinch - runner
Randy Beckman went all the
vay to third on a ground out by
leftfielder Ronnie Anderson and
another by Acosts.
Rightfielder Jon Russflp then
stood at bat, with Beckman on
third, COach Don Treuhardt h'ad
instructed, by signals, Russell
to waste the first pitch and step
out of the box before the throw,
to prompt a possible balk.
Instead of awaiting a possible
balk, Beckman charged the
plate from third and found the
catcher waiting for him with
the'third out.
The Ganders opened the first
action in the second inning when
centerfielder Ricky Burch drew
a base-on-balls, was sacrificed
to second by third* - baseman
Richard Oliver and stole third
Catcher Carl Greene thdn
struck out and Hirst baseman
Fred Hand singled ,to left field
