Palo Pinto, December 1 and 2. The J
school law is mandatory that insti-
tutes shall be for two days. It also '
provides for the extension of teach-
er’s certificates for attendance on the
institutes and summer normals with-
out re-examination, and also provides
for the cancellation of the certificates
of teachers who Wilfully and persist-
ently absent themselves from the
county institutes. !
It should .be our desire in this, as in
Other matters, to fellow ti e law, and
hence I trust that no board of
trustees #IU interpose any objection
to the teacher losing the one day from
the school to attend the first day of
thp institutes. /The institutes are a
great factor in the development and
improyement of teachers when well
attended and rightly conducted, re-
sulting in the upbuilding of our schools
and corresponding benefits to our
children, ,
Not only give them the days time,
which the law provides they shill be
entitled to, but encourage them to
come. R. B, Ritchie,
