A reliable medicine and one that
should always be kept in the home tor
immediate use is Chamberlains Cough
Remedy. It will prevent the attack if
given as soon as the child becomes
hoarse, or even after the croupy cough

An Indian Territory editor
says: It is more fun to see a
man read a puff^f himself in a
newspeper than to see a fat citi-
zen slip on a banana peel. The
narrow minded man reads it.over
seven or .eight times and then
goe3 around and begs all the
copies he can. The kind-hearted
one goes home and reads it to his
wife and then goes around to the
office and pays what he owes.—

“How is that fo.’ high”.
Last week a man stepped up to
us and said he would pay us
every cent he owed us if he liv-
ed till Saturday night. We pre-
sume the man died. Another
man said he w ould pay, us in a
day or two as sure as we were
born. Query: Did the man lie,
or were we never born? Another
said he would settle as sure as
shooting. We presume shooting
is very uncertain. Another man
said he hoped to go to the devil if
he did npt yay us within three
days. Haven’tseen him since and
suppose that he has gone but
truBt' that he did not hope in vain.'
Quite a number have said they
Would see us tomorrow. They
mii8t have been strickep blind, Or
tomorrow has not come. One
man told us erx months ago that
he would pay us as soon as he
got some money. The man would
not lie, of enurse? he has not got
a cent sinoe. And this is the way
we collect some of our billq.—

One of qpr exchanges advertised a
cow for sale as follows: “Full-blood-
ed cow for sale, giving milk, three tons
of hay, a lot of chickens and several
stoves.” While we have always had
the greatest respect for meek-eyed
gentle boEsy, we never suspected for
a moment that she would branch out
into the junk-shop business. And sho
full-blooded, loo! No “yaller” dog or
posthole in her make up. Too bad,

The democrats succeeded in
bringing down the house just the
tiniest bit.—Waco Times Herald,
The results of the campaign
just closed have at least served to
demonstrate the way in which the
democratic party may' achieve
complete Victory in the next cam-
paign. That way does not. point
to the advocacy of new-fangled
ideas in government, but to a re-
turn to the good old-fashioned
democratic slogan of genuine tar-

Whose Say-so is Best?
With nearly all medicines put up for
sale through druggists, opo has to take
the makers say-so alone as to their cura-
tive value. Of Course, such testimony Is.
not that of a disinterested party and
accordingly is not to he given the same

motives, Dr. Pierce’s medletnes, how-
ever, form a single and theroforo striking
