They're Here!!
They're Here!!
“They’re here! They’re here! I
can’t wait to try mine on. Finally, I
didn’t think they’d ever come.”
These joyous cries were heard by
people all oven’ WHS when the senior
high band members found out their
band jackets had arrived diming third
period last Wednesday.
Last Monday, senior band member
Larry Prather talked band director
Ben Branch into calling Waco, Texas
— again. Of course, this was Ml*.
Branch’s fifth time to call Waco just
to see if the jackets had been shipped
to Weatherford yet, but rather reluc-
tentity Mr. Branch picked up the
phone, dialed the operator number,
turned to the “mob” of senior band
members who had forced themselves
into his office, and then he asked for
silence.
Finally the jubilant group of WHS
band members silenced then* noise
just in time, for then Mr. Branch had
contacted his party and was asking
for information concerning the jack-
ets.
“No sir, yes sir. Oh, I see. Okay.
Fine then. The jackets are ready, and
the band sweaters are ready, also.
Both will be shiippd to us sometime
today. Correct?” The other party ob-
viously answered YES, and all was
happy.
“Oh, I can’t wait to get them.
They’ll finally get here!”
But then the roof caved in, someone
yelled out above the excited uproar of
students and said “Listen.” The sen-
iors quieted and heard Mr. Branch
say:
“We won’t get them for 2 more
days! Okay, sir. Thanks very much.”
The group then became silent and
walked back to their respective clas-
ses, but two glorious days later the
uproar arose again,
