Joe Wood, 175 pound left end
is one of our real Kangaroos this
week. This was Joe's first year to
letter on the varsity. Joe lettered
his junior year on the B Team. Joe
said he was inspired to play foot-
ball by his dad, Preacher Wood,
who was a Weatherford High
School football star about 1930.
Joe's main hobby Is working on
cars. Joe's main dislike is pop
tests. Joe hasn't made plans for
college yet.

Flagbearers receiving the lyre
award were Gale Malone and Pat
Butler. Dick Williams also re-
ceived the lyre award.
The Seniors are awaiting the
arrival of the band jackets.

The Future Homemakers pasted
a large Homemaker Emblem with
their motto “Toward New Hori-
zons” printed on it. Holly was
glued to the bottom of the card.
The F.B.L.A. pictured a lady
at a typewriter and also a small
typewriter that had typed “Merry
Christmas”. Bells and red ribbon
decorated two of the Corners.
The Footlite Club made a small
stage offset slightly to give depth
to the golden background. Small
cloth and brown curtains out-
lined the stage.
W. H. S. Defeated
By College Girl
Basketeers
The Weatherford College Girls
defeated the W. H. S. team by 30
points at the college gym Tuesday,
January 3.
The game ended by a score of
80 to 50, but during the first part
of the second quarter there was a
25 point tie.
Elouise Peoples scored 30 points
for W. H. S., Bonnie Hayes, 14,
and Jo Willis, 6. Sue Phillips was
high score-man for the college with
33 points, of which only 3 were
free throws.
A similiar score of 85 to 55 was
recorded in the last game played
with the college. However, not all
games were completed in defeat.
On December 9, Santo scored 52
with Weatherford scoring 61. The
second day of the tournament, Dec.
10, found the scores of the Bryson
game: Weatherford 77, Bryson
51. Weatherford also defeated Par-
adise.
TODDY WIGGS
Charles “Toddy” Wiggs Is a
very familiar name around the
halls of W. H. S. Toddy is a sen-
ior and a two-year letterman. He
first became interested in football
at T. W. Stanley Elementary
School. He lettered two years in
Junior High and earned a reserve
A-Team letter his sophomore year.
He has lettered twice on the A
team since. His likes are eating,
watching good movies (Billy The
Kid?) and attending all sports
events. Toddy said that he plans
to enter college but hasn't decided
on which college to enter nor what
to major In.
