Think About
Sonny Bums
DIRECTOR
WHEN ILLNESS STRIKES
Most advice is easy to give
but hard to follow. While it is
true that the best time to
plan one's funeral is while
one is still healthy, this is
the time one is least likely to
do it. In the event of serious
illness, however, there may
still be time to make neces-
sary provisions, protecting
both your wishes and your
survivor's feelings.
Possibly you and your
spouse can talk it over. If
taking about funerals is hard,
if you or your family are not
ready for such a conversa-
tion, you can put your
thoughts down on paper.
Keep the letter informal.
Try to include everythin!
about the funeral or memorial
service you'd like. You might
include your thoughts on the
disposition of the body, type
of service, who might speak,
whether there should be flow-
ers and music. Talk about the
money involved if you'd care
to. Often survivors spend far
too much, because they're
afraid to spend too little.

team members beginning at 2 p.m.
in the board room located at 511

Every school district in the state is
required by law to be visited by an
accreditation team from the agency
to evaluate the quality of its education
programs and to determine what
progress the school district has made
since the last visit. During the
intcrvicws.cmphasis will be given to
the quality of instruction and
community support present on each
campus in the district.
Areas to be evaluated by the team
include planning curriculum
instruction services to students,
instructional resources, personnel,
governance, community conditions
and physical facilities.

Carver Preschool student’s
parents and volunteers recently
made quilts to be given away
during a drawing on April 5.
Parents of the children at Carver
each made a quilt piece. The pieces
were the color of the child’s class-
room and the child’s symbol was
put on the piece by his parent. The
pieces were then put together by
volunteers and parents. One quilt
was made by Ruby Robinson and
Billie Estes, RSVP volunteers;
another by Cecilia Castillo and

Some children exhibit stress when parents must travel. A recent USA Today
article offered five tips to reduce anxiety for the little ones. 1.) Record bedtime
stories for tots, 2.) Call every night; send postcards. 3.) Take something along
the child has made; kids think there’s less chance of being forgotten if the
parent carries a reminder, 4.) Point out on a map where you’re going and 5.)
Note on the calendar how long you ’ll be gone so the child will know it’s finite.
