Bert O. Brown, a local consult-
ing engineer, has recently returned
to instructing duties at South Plains
College, following a couple of
years of working retirement.
Brown retired from Texaco Inc.
after 20 years of service. He has
been a Levelland resident for 11
years, having moved here from
Hobbs.
Brown pioneered the Petroleum
Technology Department at South
Plains. The petroleum related
courses were first taught at South
Plains College, at night, at the
Lubbock Campus under the aus-
pices of Western Texas College at
Snyder. Under that arrangement,
the courses were taught by Brown
through the 1981-1982 school
year. The following year, the
technology school courses came
under the administration of South
Plains College, at the Levelland
campus, and Brown taught night
classes during the fall semester of
the 1982-1983 school year. Brown
also served on the Petroleum
Technology School Advisory
Board.
Brown says that he loves to
teach and that he is enjoying his
part-time instructor duties at the
college. He likes the college
atmosphere and congeniality of his
students, the other teachers and
workers. Kim Williamson, the
