Cotton Seed Is Expensive—Don’t Waste It
Heretofore when cotton seed was plentiful and cheap, not much atten-
tion was paid to the quantity planted. But now, when cotton seed is
bringing high prices, it pays to use care in planting. You can save con-
siderable money this season by using a planter that will, it you wish,
plant a single seed at a time. John Deer Combined Cotton and Corn
Planter will do this.
REMEMBER TO INVESTIGATE
The John Deere Saw Tooth Type Steel Cotton Seed Picker Wheel,
the construction that makes John Deere Planters drop a single seed at
a time, regardless of quantity sown per acre. . It does not damage the
seed. Its use results in the biggest crops without wasting any seed.
Come in and let us demonstrate to you the good
points of the J. I. Case and John Deere Planters.

Monday morning was clear
j and beautiful —indeed a beauti-
[ful beginning for the week’s
work. Since each one had al-
most recovered from his or her
vaccination “wound” (?) there
was great rejoicing because
there was still life. There are
smiles now instead of tears and
frowns. Even the teachers are
_ smiling. Sometimes, you know,
^ a smile will go a long, long way.
We are all glad that we were
vaccinated however, and that
the worst is over. After all.

Ted as he is familiarly called, is
a graduate of Shiner High of
the class of 1917. He is the sec-
and son of Mrs. Wm. Dziewas of
our little city and has grown to
manhood in our little city. He
has always been industrious and
energetic and has made numer-
ous friends by his likeable and
accomod a t i n g characteristics.
For several months he has been
with the Ed, Franz Motor Co. of
Victoria. The wedding was a
complete surprise to all. The
groom’s mother had a few hours
notice and a wedding dinner was
hastily prepared, and Ted motor-
ed in with his fair bride—a real

noon. Mr. and Mrs. Perry

A wedding of interest occur-
red at the Charlottenburg Luth
j eran Church last Wednesday, at
4 o’clock P. M., when Miss Lil-
lian Pietsch, eldest daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Clemens Pietsch of
Wied, was united in wedlock to
Mr. Alfred Hildebrandt, a young
and favorably known business
man of Witting. Rev. Senf the
local minister officiating.
The wedding march was ren-
dered by a Miss Pfenning of
McDade, Texas. After the cere-
mony a bounteous repast and
reception was held at the hos-
pitable home of the bride’s par-
ents at Wied, to which over a
hundred relatives and near
friends of the happy young
couple were invited.
The happy couple left the next
day for a short wedding trip to
Galveston after which they will
reside at Witting.

tended from Shiner.

friends and acquaintances of
Mr. and Mrs. Hildebrandt in
wishing them every joy and
happiness in their wedded life.
INSURANCE isn’t a luxury.
Insurance isn’t one of the things
you want to do without.
An insurance policy would
have helped many widows far
more than the piano which
stands in the parlor. Pianos and
1 other luxuries don’t pay bills.
Insurance policies do. Pianos
don’t provide food and lodging
and clothing and education. In-
j surance policies do.
j Insure! Do it today! Prove
' you’re a man. Prove that you
do love your wife. Prove that
you really are fond of your chil-
dren.
The policy you take or the
company that writes it isn’t im-
portant. They’re all good. They’re
all fair. They’re all square.

jin your life, is the Only day
you’re sure about: Tomorrow
may come—and may not. Do it

We were glad to see Mr. Les-
lie again Monday morning. We
know Milada Berckenhoff was
delighted to see Miss December,
who was also absent two days
last week because of sickness.
She taught Miss December’s
classes. But Milada proved to
be an excellent teacher. Fact
about the matter, she is depend-
able in any kind of work she un-
dertakes. We shall tell about
the other members of the senior
class in the next bombs. They
are all super-fine.
