WELCOME!
The flower Show sponsored by
the local Garden Club on Wed-
nesday of last week was the sen.
sation of Trades Day. Even the
members were gloriously sur-
prised. The large Blohm building
was transformed into a bower of
beauty.
The classifications were most
artistically arranged.
There was no admission fee
charged but the register showed
nearly 1000 visitors and many
did not register at all. Seldom
has anything proved quite as
pleasurable or enjoyable.
There were 42 different en-
tries.
Tha prodigous ferns had their
own grouping, the handsome
coleus table brought forth ex-
clamations of surprise, even the
thorny Cacti display was accoun-
ted beautiful.
The “red, red rose” table was
one of the most artistic of all en-
tries. A number of tables were
entered in the contest for floral
centerpieces and these carried
their own special appeal. The
section for floral wall pocket
displays is deserving of special
mention. “Mums” came in for
their share of attention and the

Judge Tuesday
Commissioners’ Court in special
session Tuesday, to select a suc-
cessor to the late Judge John P.
Ehlinger, appointed E. A. (Sam-
my) Arnim Jr., of Flatonia. The
appointment was unanimous.
Hollis Masse of Schulenburg and
County Attorney Robt. E. Moss
also filed applications for ap-
pointment to the position.
Sammy Arnim is a young at-
torney of well-balanced judg
ment, a graduate of the law de-
partment of the State University
and is well known over the en-
tire county.
The son of E. A. Arnim of Fla-
tonia, reared in the atmosphere
of democracy and following along
the same lines and leanings, he
has been active in behalf of the
success of the democratic party,
both State and local. He is at
present a member of the State
Democratic Executive Commit-
tee.

this table has graced the Gazette
desk during the past week being
entered by Mrs. E. J. Kempe.
Only ribbons were given as
prizes. The blue ribbon, first
prize, counted 5 points; the red,
3 points and the white 1 point.
A total of 34 blue ribbons was
awarded. 26 red ribbons in sec-
ond places a*nd 20 third places or
white ribbons.
A grand summary of points
totaled favored Mrs. C. J. Wal-
drep for first place with 44 scor-
ed. Mrs. H. G. Hollman scored
23 points for second place and
Mrs. Edgar Wolters 22 points for
third place. The judges were
Miss Anita Richter and Miss
Morgan, County Agent. Mrs. Ed-
gar Wolters had seven entries
and scored 6 prize ribbons.
The Club is yet in its infancy.
The public will expect marvelous
development when it reaches
the “crawling” stage with their
Spring Show. Not only Pres.
Arno Wagener, Vice Pres , Mrs.
J. C. Blohm and Sect. Mrs. C. J.
Waldrep have every reason to be
proud but each and every mem-
ber, all worked in co-operation
that was indeed commendable.
