This morning about fl o'clock
Mose Williams a negro entered
the meat maikH of J. C. Crippen
on the corner of Fifth and Franklin
streets and while no one was look
ing at him rakei up a pit 03 of
beefsteak which was laying on the
counter placed it under his arm
and walked out.
He had hardly opened the door to
leave when Mr. CUrk one of the
butchers disooveu'd him and gave
chase capturing tho thief before he
had gone very far. Ho sh turned
over to Police Officer Jas. Hill who
looked him up in the ounty jiil.
