A GREAT NEW WESTERN
IN COLOR
O such a grand day as we did
have at the Dew Memorial all of
Mrs. Utseys children were there
and they had a picture made of
them and so many people came
and spoke to me. Mrs. Annie
Goolsby said are yu Ella Utsey
I told her no and showed her to
Mrs. Utsey I said I am Mrs.
Vada Webb well do I no you I
said you write the news yes I
said well where did you get that
fan I saw you come under the
pavillion with it. I told her I
wrote in my news that I wanted
a palmetta fan and a man from
Teague brought me one. The
next morning a lady in Teague
ring Estelle and told her she
wanted to talk to me well it was
Letha Bond she tofd me that
Mrs. May McKinney had one,
well we stopped by and got it
and lands we could have talked
a hole day I knew her and she
knew me in a way some of her
folks married uncle Lee Jolly.
Well I was so proud of my fan
and today a lady said I seen
you where did you get that Fan,
I want one, but she may not be
as lucky as I was.
So many people at the Mem-
orial that I did not know and
a lot that I did no. I seen Brenda
Maddox I didn’t no her only that
she was a Maddox, saw Marie
and Clara and Kate Lancaster
and oh so many. The cemetery
was nice and clean and Reather
Craig made a good tafk on the
expense of the fence and how
much they liked having it paid
for she said they wanted to make
a drive on the other side and it
really makes it nice you can
drive on through the cemetery
and drive right around and come
plum on up side and out at the
corner and they want to make
one on the other side like it.
We seen Mary’s monument it
is like Elmer’s they sure are nice
and there is one more like them,
I don’t know who it is.
Pat and Jane come last night
and Lin is going back to work,
I hope he makes good and he
will cme back to go to school.
Ray and Dane stayed home
and fixed dinner David stayed
with them and Vernell staid with
them too.
Harley and Ophelia come and
she brought her thimble to quilt
but Estelle wasn’t quitting so
she just visited, Harley went to
town. Estelle is quilting one for
Lola now it is pretty and she
aims to give it to Gwen’s daugh-
ter for her birthday, she is gone
to Europe with her daddy don’t
you know she will see lots of
sights while she is gone but I
imagine she will be glad to be
back home.
Howell come spoke to me at
Dew but James didn’t. Howell
said his mother was doing al-
right.
The Cedar meeting is going on
now. Darris tole me that most
alj of the new housing is filled
up now. Darris said Doris gath-
ered okra this morning she cook-
ed a bowl of okra for dinner fix
ed some like she aimed to fry it
then fixed a bag to poil put it all
in the deep freeze and he said
their peas really looked good and
was blooming and I imagine they
will make. Gene Jones got some
purple hull peas and later he
can get some cream peas and
Gene got some peaches too I
don’t know where he got them
at Pt. Enterprise I think.
No news is good news, Estelle
is gone to milk the kids still
asljeep and me writing. Seen so
many at Cedar Church it was
good to be there, Harley and
Ophelia come Harley went to
town and Ophelia quilted Estelle
wants to get the quilt done to-
day but I am afraid she won’t
make it, too much else to do that
has to be done. Estelle’s got to
work on the corral fence so she
