TEXAS
CROSSWORD
. by Charley It Guy Orbison
A movie critic I am not. I
can’t even remember when I
last went to a movie theatre.
It wasn’t always this way.
Back in the “good ole days”
when Comanche had two movie
theatres, a bowling alley, a
pool hall and a skating rink,
my husband and I went to the
Majestic ever time the feature
changed. Good, bad, or indif-
ferent didn’t matter, we went
anyway.
My favorite T.V. programs
are the old movies. What an
evening of fun to watch Cary
Grant and Kathryn Hepburn
in Bringing Up Baby 1 Another
film I’ve recently again en-
joyed is Spencer Uracey and
Kathryn Hepburn is Guess
Who’s Coming Tb Dinner.
The point of this is to
recommend to you that you
watch The Good Old Boys
with Tbmmy Lee Jones, Sissy
Spacek and Sam Shepard. It
has been on TNT every night
for the past week.
Watch for it. Tou’ll like itl
I was alerted to watch for it
by Alda Arthur who came by a
couple weeks ago and brought
me a write-up hbout the movie
and author.
Of course you might know
this picture is made from a
book by the noted San Angelo
writer, Elmer Kelton. Kelton
has a Comanche connection as
Elma Ann Jeanes Kelton is his
sister-in-law.
One of my all time favorite
books is Kelton’s The Time It
Never Rained.
The Comanche Public Li-
brary has all of Kelton’s
books. "You should drop in and
get acquainted with him if you
aren’t already.
Kelton is a native of Crane.
He is the author of more
than 30 novels, published over
about 40 years.
His most recent novel is
The Far Canyon, published by
Doubleday-Bantam.
Four of Kelton’s books have
won the prestigious Western
Heritage Award from the Na-

Especially when you consider
how quickly her class responded
to our photographer. We said
“smile"and they were all teeth.
And when Angela Johnson
suggested saving paper by not
sending return envelopes to bank
draft customers, we were all
ears. We were also pretty excited
when Spud Hammerbacher
expressed interest in our new
