The wearing of black at a wadding
was formerly considered so ominous of
evil that people in mourning either
staid away from the ceremony or put
off the somber habiliments for the oc-
casion. The appearance of an inno-
cent black pin lias been known to
create dismay among the wedding
guests. This prejudice has wholly
disappeared among the intelligent
people. Ithick toilets are worn at the
ceremony and nobody eer thinks of
any ill-luck to the bride on this ac-
count. Urides themselves do not wear
black but recently a -very well-known
society girl who was in mourning for
a near relative wore a wedding and
traveling costume of black and white
striped silk and satin .She wore a capo
of black satin and lace and a black hat
decorated with Maek feathers and
white lace. Mix horseshoes covered
with white roses a quart of rice and
numberless supeiannuatod slippeia
tied with pink ribhou were thrown
after the carriage as she left her home
so as ouo superstition is as good aa an-
other the bride Is likely notwith-
standing her toilet to have as happy a
lifo as is allotted to mortals in general.
