ISSUED WEEKLY TO ALL SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL - - - - - No. 533
20 September 1961
CONTINUED CONTROL In order to closely control certain high cost
OF HIGH COST ITEMS materials and parts such as pumps, valves, and
STRESSED actuators, they are kept in locked Hi-Dollar
Cabinets. The parts are issued by Manufacturing
Control to individuals bearing proper authorization. Certain instances
have been reported in which these cabinets have been opened by unauthor-
ized people and parts taken without a proper record being made as to
where the parts were used. Actions of this type cause an immediate
shortage since parts are ordered for a specific airplane. It is par-
ticularly important at this time that we maintain proper control of parts.
If you have employees who use hi-dollar items, make sure that they have
proper authorization for securing parts and that they take only those
parts that they need.
HUSTLER MULTIPLE An advanced configuration, which is currently in
WEAPON CAPABILITY work, will equip the B-58 with externally mounted
TOLD bombs. This improved design has been approved by
the Air Force in a letter contract issued to GD/FW.
Negotiations are presently under way on proposals to change the
earlier Hustlers to the latest configuration.
Along with the multiple-weapon arrangement, the B-58 carries a two-
component pod beneath its fuselage. The lower component carries fuel
and the upper component both fuel and part of the bomber's payload.
This new configuration gives the B-58 both conventional and nuclear
weapon capability.

during the NMA Conference in Chicago. No other club has won the de-
signation three consecutive times.
