Rev. S. L. Moiris employs a lit-
tle negro boy who drives him up to
his ollice and returns homo with tho
buggy. Yestorday as tho littlo lad
was roturniug a lot of boys as-
saulted him with brick bats striking
tho horse (which is a very gentle
one) with the bricks caused it to
run away throwing the little negro
out on his head bruieing him con-
siderably and breaking np tho
harness and to somo extent wreck-
ing tho buggy. Gentlemen passing
foitunately caught the horse helped
tho little negro out of his scrape
and thus enabled him to arrive
home bruised and bleeding some
two hours late. Such hoodluniism
is niuoh to be deprecated by all
good citizens and rospectablo little
boys. The city oflioials aro on the
lookout for tho guilty parties.
A A'arron Escape.
Mr. G'irdnor Work was bitting in
his buggy down on South Fourth
street this morning when an express
wagon batkod into his vohiolo.
His horse gave a violnt lunge
throwing Mr. Workout backward
and then ran. Ho soon struck
another wagon and broke loose
from the buggy. Mr. Work who
is a large man struck the ground
pretty hard but was fortunatoly
not hurt. Tho harness aud buggy
wore slightly damaged.

Tho Waco Furniture Company
which novor does things by halves
has arranged a grand concert and

ment of its friends and patrons to-

will be spread and tho bewildering
array of handsome furnituro and
house fixings will make tho occa-
sion one of pleasure and profit to
all who chooso to accept tho firm's
kind invitation to bo present. Theso
annual receptions of the Wao
Furniture Company havo proven
to bo a feature of .he Christmas
holiday season in Waco and with
each rouurrirjg year they havo prov-
en larger more elaborate and
more enjoyable. This yoar't
hai gone beyond any previous
tfl'm and the crowds that havo at-
tended havo fully testified to tho esti-
mation iu which thoy are held by the
people.
A coulial invitation is extended
to all to go tonight and eDj'oy tho
music and tho illumination.

The attention of roaders intoiest-
ed in Dr. Mi'Kaana'a Sanitarium is
called to a fact not incorporated in
his whole page advertisement iu
this iesuo. This faot is that tho
establishment is the most elegantly
equipped concein of tho kind in tho
world Tho carpets and furniture
are of a class far beyond tho re
quirenients of such a place but the
idea of tho proprietor was to male
it so homelike and comfortable that
patients would prefer remaining in
tho building to going abroad. HoK
iday visitors to Houston are cor-
dially invited to come and inspect
tho premises for themsolves and
they will find polite attendants
through this Sanitarium par ox
collenoe. A visit to the handsomo
and thoroughly equipped kitchen
will strengthen a (queamish appo-
tito for a square meal in a dining
room surgestivo of cleanliness aud
good living and if tho oallor is on
hand at breakfast dinner or supper
ti no ho is wolcomo to all tho house
affords. Tho entire outfit is so at
tractive and so decently conductod
that you will mi'is a holiday treat if
you fail to give Dr. McKanna and
his wife a call and any patient who
has ever been under their treatmont
will assure you that the entire es-
tablishment is always open to them
all. There aro no bod' rooms fitted
up to chill tho oyo of tho occupant
and make him wish he was some-
where else but tho surroundings
oleau linen and goneral paraphorra-
lia are of a nature to mako a follow
think the place is too good for him.
Tho houso is now well built and
finished with all the modern im-
provements and presents a singular
contrast to what a porson is led to
expect from seeing other hospitals
.nyluins and infirmaries. Houston
Post December 17.
Dr. McKanna has tomporary
hcadqnaners at tho Hotel Royal
where ho may bo consulted or addressed.
