St. Ludmila’s
Cardinals Defeated
By Yoakum 17-14
In a slow moving softball
game that displayed a lot of
batting power on both sides the
St'. Ludmila’s Cardinals drop-
ped their first game to St. Jo-
seph’s of Yoakum by a score
of 17-14. In the first three in-
nings of play the Cardinals
loomed to a good lead of 9-1,
but this lead fizzed out with
weakened pitching and a few
errors.
Next Friday at 2:30 p.m., the
Yoakum team invades Shiner
for a return game at St. Lud-
mila’s Academy.

Humble’s Unusual
Football On Air
Saturday Night
One of the most unusual foot-
ball broadcast timetables ever
to confront listeners comes up
this week on Humble Oil &
Refining Company’s weekly
broadcasts of Southwest Con-
ference games.
There will be but one day
game—Texas vs. Temple, in
Philadelphia—and that game
will come to listeners with an
early 12:30 p.m. kickoff be-
cause of time zone differences.
The remainder of Saturday’s
heavy, six-game schedule, well-
sprinkled with intersectional
meetings, is at night. Three
strong Southern Conference
teams invade Texas with Wake
Forrest-SMU at Dallas; South
Carolina-Bay lor at Waco; and
Clemson-Rice at Houston; Tex-
as Tech and Texas A. & M. at
San Antonio and Oklahoma A.
& M.-TCU at Fort Worth com-
plete an evening schedule to
provide listeners with an un-
usual Saturday night football
selection.
Broadcast of the game between
the Southwest Conference
champion, SMU, and Wake
Forest starts at 8:00 n.m.
The Rice-Clemson game goes
on the air at 8:05 p.m. Eight
p. m. is broadcast time for the
T. C. U.-Oklahoma A. & M.
game. The University of Texas-
