First Day Program
The first day’s program of this
short course has been designed
for anyone interested in learn-
ing the latest practical infor-
mation with turkey production
in Texas.
Important Notice
The second day will be devot-
ed to flock selectors and pul-
lorum testers. Those desiring
to requalify as flock selectors
and pullorum testers, in ac-
cordance with the National
Turkey Improvement Plan, will
be required to attend the two
days of the short course and
pass all examinations.

M. College.

A triple birthday celebration
honoring Mrs. Louis Schneider’s
eighty-third birthday, also the
birthdays of Alfred Schneider
Sr. and Alfred Schneider Jr.
was observed in Palacios at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Schneider Sunday, Sept. 18.

Mr. and Mrs. Lem Russo ar-
rived Monday morning from
Norwalk, Conn., and are "at
home with her father, Henry
Neumann. They plan to make
their home in Texas.

Menke motored to Seguin Fri-
day afternoon to visit friends
at Texas Lutheran College.
They also attended the Seguin
High vs. Karnes City football
game.
Miss Marion Jean Peschel of
Houston spent last week in the
home of her grand-parents,
Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Richter.
Marion will attend the Univer-
sity of Houston this term and
will make her home with her
aunt, Mrs. E. G. Wessels.

held their annual Sears Roe-
buck pig show Thursday night,
September 15. Winners of the
breeding gilt show and prize
money is as follows: First place,
George Ammermann, prize
money 8.00; 2nd place, Martin
Janak, prize money $7.00; 3rd
place, Raymond Kloesel, prize
money $6.00; 4th place, George
Kutac, prize money $5.00; and
5th place, Louis Kubena $4.00;
6th place, J. D. Stewart, no
prize money and 7 th place,
Alois Bujnoch, no prize money.
The winners of the pen of 3
market hogs are: First place,
Eugene Janak, prize money
$10.00; 2nd place, John Mc-
Clanahan, prize money $9.00;

George Ammermann who had
the grand champion gilt and

market hogs will carry their
pigs to the District show in Vic-
toria next Wednesday at 9:00.
The Hallettsville Auction Co.
furnished the facilities for this
show and Buster Kuykendall
bought the pen of 3 pigs that
were for sale.
Miss Ann Sedlmeyer of San
Antonio spent Sunday with rel-
atives.

for the regular Monday lunch-
eon at Meyer’s Cafe, Sept. 19.
The President, Basil Bell,’
read parts of the District Gov-
ernor’s monthly letter and stat-
ed that the Shiner Club ranked
first for the month of August
in attendance in the district.
Percy Garbade, program
chairman, presented Senator
Gus Strauss of Hallettsville who
spoke informally on the ten
constitutional amendments to
be presented to the people o£
the State of Texas by vote upon
November 8, 1949. He took each
amendment individually and
briefly explained it, and gave
the change that would be
brought about should the
amendment pass. This was one
of those very important inform-
ative programs and the club’s
thanks goes to Percy for ar-
ranging for this program and
further thanks from the club
goes to the Senator for giving
of his time in bringing this in-
formation to the Shiner Club.

University.
An interesting pastime for

The Busy Bee Patrol opened
Monday at the home of Mrs.
Leon Miculka.
The meeting was opened with
the Girl Scout Promise.
Absent at the meeting was
Lorene Karnau.
Roll call was in charge of

prised. us by having us to an-
swer with animals starting with
the first and last name.
