An annual highlight of
the Lee College spring
semester is back after a
two-year hiatus.
Representatives from
more than 20 universities
and colleges in Texas will
be at Lee College for Col-
lege Day from 10 a.m.-l
p.m. Feb. 6 at Moler Hall.
Lee College’s Gertrude
Teter Counseling Center
sponsors the event, which
was last held in 1989. Dur-
ing each of the last two
years, LC library resources
and employees have oc-
cupied a large portion of
Moler Hall while workers
renovated the Erma Wood
Carlson Learning Resource
Center.
College Day is an enjoy-
able way for LC students,
as well as students who
will be bused in from area
high schools, to get infor-
mation about four-year
universities and colleges,
according to Bobbie
Wheatfall, LC counselor.
It’s a fun thing,”
Wheatfall said. “The stu-
dents get a bang out of it.
When these students leave,
they’re loaded down with
information, pens, pencils,
combs, keychains and
other items from these
schools.
“These representatives
want these students to
come to their schools,”
Wheatfall' continued. “It
makes the students feel
good about themselves.”
Wheatfall said four-year
schools that have con-
firmed their attendance for
College Day include Uni-
versity of Houston-Clear
Lake and UH-University-
Park, Texas "Southern Uni-
versity, Sam Houston State
University, Stephen F,
Austin State University,
Lamar University, Univer-
sity of Texas-Austin,
Texas A&M University
and Southwest Texas State
University.
Many of the schools that
will be represented at Col-
lege Day are specifically
invited by LC counselors.
