-METHODIST CHURCH
John Witt Hendrix, Pastor
Church school meets at 9:45 a. m.
Each morning a thought provoking
program Is enacted. You miss some-
thing If you are not there for it. Of
late the attendance at church school
has increased about 40 per cent.
Public worship both morning and
evening—11 a. m. and 8 p m. At
each hour the pastor will deliver a
sermon.
Morning worship Will feature a
11st of choice hymns such as have in
them fine gospel music. The pastor
will preach using as subject. "Every-
thing Cornin’ My Way.” This is an
old expression. Let’s lift it into
modem thought at the morning hour.
Evening warship will come on at
8 o’clock. The choir will sing In an
informal list of songs, and you may
select gome of them yourself, If you
have an old song you especially de-
sire. The pastor will speak using as
his subject, "This Way Up, Gentle-
men.” Some enjoy this service a
great deal. You might, you see!
League and Adult class come on at
7:15 p. m. The subject for the
Adult study will be. "Wesley’s Mes-
sage to His Own Age.” Let’s see
how it fits our age.
You have to come early to get a
back seat!

W. M. S. will meet next Monday,
3 P. M. in the new home of Mrs.
Victor Williams—a sort of house
warming. "Rebuilding Rural Amer-
ica” will be the subject. Mrs. Dick
Brasher is the teacher and she does
it in a fine way.

Sunday is a big day in the First
Baptist Church It is Anniversary
Day of the Church and present
pastor. The Sunday services will
close the old year and begin the
new year—we are expecting 500. in
the Bible School which begins at
9:45 Sunday morning**
The pastor will speak Sunday
morning on the subject, "First
Church Marches on.”
Sunday evening at 7:30 we are
expectihg 200 in B. T. U. The pas-
tor will speak again Sunday even-
ing. A baptismal service will close
the day. We want you to come

Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Mathis and son,
Ralph, spent the v eekend at Plain-
vieew. where they visited their two
daughters, Mrs. W. B. Harris, and
Miss Maurine, the latter a student
in Wayland College. ~ ,, -
NEPHEW DIES IN LAMESA
Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Riggs spent
Sunday in Lamesa, where they were
called to attend the funeral of his
nephew, Irvin Henry Hemmeline,
formerly of this place but who has
lived at Lamesa for the past several
years.
The child' had been sick for the
past several weeks.
They were accompanied on the
trip by Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Riggs.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bush, for-
merly of this place but now living
in Lubbock, spent Sunday here visit-
ing friends.

Morris Humphries, of the Tipps
Tailoring Company, was carried to
the Lubbock Sanitarium Monday
morning, where he underwent an
operation for appendicitis on the
same day. He is said to be recover-
ing rapidly. _
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Kerr, form-
erly connected with the State High- '
way Department here but who are JA.
now living in Lubbock, announce the
birth of a daughter last week. The
little one has been christened, Lara
Ann.
Mr. and' Mrs. Lewis Cole returned
Monday from Jewett .where they at-
tended the birthday celebration of
her father. Mr. Rhodes. They were
accompanied by Mrs. W J. Ellis of
Abilene. His mother, Mrs. J. P.
Cole, also accomanled them as fas
as Mexia where she visited a
daughter, Mrs. Hoyett Ford and
family.
Miss Edna Walters has been 111
this week with an attack of influ-
enza.
Rev. Clifford Potts, of this place
but who is a student in Wayland
College, has been called to the pas-
torate of the Batist Church at Wat-
son, a place northwest of Plain view.
