paying city, school and
property taxes approaches, of-
ficials report collections are well
ahead of last year.
John Miith, tax assessor-
collector for Baytown’s school
district and Lee College, noted
the school district had collected
$13,545,502 through Wednesday
or more than $1 million more
than last year’s pace.
Muth said he expects the
school district to collect $25
million in tax revenue on Thurs-
day and Friday.
The school district expects to \
receive about $38 million in tax ; <
revenue.
Muth said he expects the col-
lection goal to be reached by Ju-
ly-.1 — well ahead of la'fet year
when tax collection wasn’t com-
pleted until the fall.
