The Waco Examiner seems to
think that tbo fence-cutters as a
mass aro not cut-throats nor com
munists though theso elements
aro among them. Tho mass do a
wrong to right what they esteem a
wrong. Their war is to them a

patiently and. anxiously waiting
and watching to see what the stato
troops will do toward suppressing
the evil.
BRENHAM WASHINGTON
There is now trouble at Dan-

Prince Bismarck has returned tho
Laker resolutions passed by con-
gress. Tho German minister at
Washington "Van Eisendeckcr re-
gards tho return of tho resolutions
as a simplo expression of political
views which did not indicate any
anger on Bismarck's part and
should not causo any ill-feeling in
this' country.

The death of Thomas Kinsella
editor of tho Brooklyn Eagle and
Thomas Chcnery editor of the
London Times calls attention to
tho difference in English and
American journalism. The idea
of a Professor of Arabic founding
an influential and paying paper in
this country is quite absurd as it
would bo for a poor 'Irish printer
to asniro to tho editorial control
of a great London daily.

Accordino to the Marlin Ball

tho polic- of tho party in Texas

It is tho opinion of tho Banner
that Governor Ireland will be his
own successor unless thero is a
complete revolution in public sen-

The San Antonio Light is a good
Republican papor and therefore a
friend of tho colored race. It has
tho following gilt-edged advice
which tho colored pooplo would do
woll to cut out and pasto in their
hats: "The negroos can only cle-
vato their race by olovating tho in-
dividuals and voting and holding
office can not accomplish the re-
sult. Intelligence industry fru-
gality and integrity arc the basis
of character and success of life and
should be objectixe points xvith the
negroes if they expect to rise to a
higher piano of civilization." No
Democratic paper in the county
could give any better or
sounder advice Tho destiny of
the colored race is in its
oxvn hands; it must xx-ork out its
oxxn salvation. In the contest of
life every man must take caro of
himself
