IS HE ELIGIBLE?
Since the organization of the
Truck Growers Association in the
county Mr. W. H. Murphy has had
a hankering to become a member of
the Association but as it was not be-
lieved that he was much of a horti-
culturist his eligibility was ques-
tioned fo without making applica-
tion he decided to experiment a lit-
tle to see if he could raise vegeta-
bles and demonstrate to the Associa-
tion that he would make a good
member but not desiring to wait
for spring he commenced about the
latter part of September and plant
ed and cultivated a regular ian gar
den but in getting his seed he
planted some spring radishes and
cultivating them according to his
own ideas has achieved a success
with them that stamps him a first-
class truck-grower and eminently
eligible' to their association but
these spring radishes which usually
grow about the size of an ordinary
marble have under his skillful
manipulation attained a size to which
any gardner would point with boast-
fulness but not so with Mr. W. H.
Murpby. The half dozen that he
piled down Saturday in front of the
editor would perhaps have weighed
thirty pounds but he modestly said
j that he didn't bring them up to
boast of their size or his success in
gardening but merely as samples of
his initiatory efforts since Septem-
ber and by further experiments and
a study of their cultivation in a cou-
ple of years be might be able to
raise vegetables that the- Truck
Growers Association would look
upon as worthy the efforts of one
of their members.

All day Saturday the; rotunda of

Dwyor! is .there any valentines for
me?" S'oon Tie was joined by his
little sister eagerly inquiring for1 the
same kind of missive and later his
big sister modestly called for her
mail the tell-tale blushes that man-
tled her; cheek showing that she had
received it in the shape of a valen-
tine called by this mis-nomer. The
postmaster was as glad to seo the
sun gd down on St. Valentine's day
as the hardest worked laborer was to
seo Saturday night.
