WACO — Federal authorities and the leader of a heavily armed
religious cult are talking almost around the clock to end a six-day
standoff, and officials have asked for help from biblical scholars.

procedural problems delayed the opening of talks this morning.
SAN ANTONIO — More than 900 civilian employees at Kelly

Jet carrying 96 crashes
AMSTERDAM, Netheriands (AP)
A Fokker jet carrying 96
passengers and crew crashed Friday after takeoff from Skopje Air-
port in Macedonia, the Dutch manufacturer said.
The Fbkker 100, leased by the Palair airline, was en route to
Zurich, Switzerland, when it went down 1.3 miles from the runway,
said Fokker spokesman Bart van Veen.
A Zurich airport spokemsan said the plane was operated by the
Macedonian charter company Palair Makedonia. He spoke on condi-
tion of anonymity.
Dutch television reported that there were four children among the
91 passengers, whose nationalities were unknown, and that the crew
numbered three flight attendants and two cockpit personnel.
The Fokker 100 is a 100-seat twin engine jet designed for short-to
medium-distance flights. Introduced in the late 1980s, it is the
Amsterdam-based manufacturer’s latest model
