AESOP FABLE
W'e would often be sorry if our
wishe* were gratified Let us re-
call the tale of Aesop; An old
laborer, hent double with age and
toil, was gathering sticks in a
forest At last he grew so tired
and hopeless that he threw down
the bundle of sticks and cried out,
"I rannot bear this life any longer;
I wish Death would come and take
me"'
As he spoke, an angel in the
form of Death appeared and said
to him. "What wonldst thou, Mor-
tal’ I heard thee rail me.”
“Please, sir,” replied the labor-
er, "would you kindly help me to
lift this faggot of sticks onto my
shoulder?”
1little Marian, four year old, was
busy ironing her dolly's new gown
one Sunday. '
ller nurse remonstrated. “Don’t
you know it's a sin for any work
to begin on the Sabbath?”
Marian looked up calmly and an
swored, "Now don’t you suppose
the Good l/ird knows that thi*
little iron ain’t hot?”
