As we are poor hands at boasting, may-
be you've not heard of a certain for-
tunate event which recently occurred in
our midst. It has been eased around that
one of the "new guys" we received is a
grappler of no mean ability. His name
was found to be "Headlock" Stein. "Head-
lock" can also hold his own at the mess
table, so you can see he's good at lot'sa
things.

It just goes to show that there are al-
ways a few men who make good and
show themselves superior under any cir-
cumstances.
Blackburn, E. W., is one such individ-
ual. He was mess cooking for the corps-
men, but this quarter (now that he is
Shanghaied to the Fourth Division) he
has been promoted to a "white collar"
job. He's gundeck compartment cleaner.
And does he shine the linoleum on top
of his shell hoist! It is rumored that he
has made seaman and really has a crow
in his locker in case they should suddenly
give him the next higher rate.

(Continued from Page One)
It will be noticed that the amount con-
tributed from officers has decreased from
the amount last reported. The reason
for this is that many officers' contribu-
tions were included in their divisions'
total. The officers have actually con-
tributed a total of $129.00, which is al-
most 100 percent.
know anything about it.

It's been said that Johnstone spends
half of his time off the ship. Maybe we'-
re wrong or something, but every other
day liberty and a few standbys thrown in
on the other days does kind of prove our
argument. "One never knows. Does One ?"

or rather the scandal, we'll sign off and
