P.-T, A, Meet
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 8 PM,
the P.-T. A. meeting was held
at S. L. A. High School. The
meeting was opened with the
prayer, by the President, Mrs.
Frank Tasler.
P.-T. A. membership is on for
another month. The voluntary
group for membership drive are
as follows: Mesdames F. M.
Wagner, Felix Hybner, Leon
Kurc, Milton Westphal, Frank
Winkler, E. J. Henkhaus, O. A.
Kosler, Frank Filip.
Plans were made for the Fall
Harvest Festival, which will be
held on Sunday, November 16,
beginning at 1 PM at the Cath-
olic Parish Gym. With a tama-
les and chili supper at 4:30 PM.
Other entertainment will also
be provided.
The president appointed five
to serve on the executive board.
They are: Mesdames E. J.
Henkhaus, John Degenhardt,
Alphonse Jalufka, Joe Patek,
and John Werner.
The chairman for each grade
on the* room-mothers commit-
tee was appointed for the
school term of 1952-53. For the
first grade, Mrs. Milton West-
phal; second grade, Mrs. Felix
Hybner; third grade, Mrs. E. J.
Henkhaus; fourth grade, Joe
Pohler; fifth grade, Mrs. Al-
phonse Jalufka; sixth grade,
Mrs. Agnes Kutac; seventh
grade, Mrs. August Maneth;
eighth grade, Mrs. O. A. Kos-
ler; ninth grade, Mrs. Frank
Filip; tenth grade, Mrs. Paul
Stock; eleventh grade, Mrs. Al-
phonse Jaks; twelfth grade,
Mrs. F. M. Wagner.
Mrs. F. M. Wagner spoke on
Family Rosary Crusade, how
beautiful the Family Rosary is
when the family recite it daily,
it gives a good example to their
children, etc.
The next meeting will be
held Wednesday, Nov. 5 at
3:30 PM.
The meeting was adjourned
with a prayer by the President.

Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Cervenka
and son of Corpus Christi spent
Saturday evening in the home
of F. H. Cervenka. Little Bob-
by remained with his grand-
parents while his parents jour-
neyed on to Austin where Dr.
Cervenka is a delegate to Ki-
wanis Club, where the club is
holding its State Convetion. He
is president o f the Corpus
Christi Club.
Judge and Mrs. Paul Fertsch
and little granddaughter, Miss
Antonia Fertsch, Mr. and Mrs.
Emil Treptow and daughter,
Judy, were guests Sunday of
Mrs. E. G. Buske and Mr. and
Mrs. James Buske and family.
Max Holchak of Kenedy
spent Sunday with relatives.

of pupils in our public schools,
develop mutual understanding,
and promote the good-will
which is so necessary in a pre-
domenantly Christian country
whose government is designed
to serve all people no matter
how much their religious con-
victions may differ—Neal Fox,
the superintendent of the Shi-
ner Public School System, call-
ed and presided over an as-
sembly of the high school stu-
dents on Monday, October 13,
at 8:45 AM.
At this meeting Mr. Fox pro-
posed a program to be held in
which Kall denominations will
be represented. The committees
chosen were Helen Pustejovsky,
Peggy Slavik, and Jeanette
Kloesel from the Catholic
Church; Doris Henkhaus, Emi-
lou Minear, and G. W. Minear
of the Methodist Church; Mabel
Hagendorf, Grace Cook, and
Marjorie Brod of the Lutheran
Church, with Miss Grasse as
teacher sponsor, Fred Cook of
the Baptist Church.
The same day at 2:45 PM, the
committee met in the English
room to take steps for present-
ing the proposed program. It
was decided that every month
through the school year one
Church will present its own
program while at Thanksgiv-
ing, Christmas, and Easter the
