“Is the Universe, Including
Man, Evolved By Atomic Force?”
is the subject of the Lesson-Ser-
mon which will be read in all
Churches of Christ, Scientist, on
Sunday, December 18.
The Golden Text is: “Ah Lord
God! behold, thou hast made the
heaven and the earth by thy great
power and stretched out arm, and
there is nothing too hard for thee”
(Jeremiah 82:17).
Among the citations which com-
prise the Lesson-Sermon is the fol-
lowing from the Bible: “My right-
eousness is near; my salvation is
gone forth, and mine arms shall
judge the people; the isles shall
wait upon me, and on mine arm
stall they trust” (Isaiah 51:5).
The Lesson-Sermon also includes
the following passage from the
Christian Science textbook, “Sci-
ence and Health with Key to the
Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy:
“Inspired thought relinquishes a
material, sensual, and mortal
theory of the universe, and adopts
the spiritual and immortal” (page
547).

Masses are at 7 o’clock and 9

On week days, masses are at 7

exception of Friday; on which day
they are at 8 o’clock a. m.
O
N some cars, it might not be such
standout news.
But when you read the price tags on this
smart and sizable Buick Special of 1950—
When you listen to the throaty baritone
of the big Fireball valve-in-head straight-
eight engine that fills its bonnet—
When you feel its lift and surge on the
Toad, sample the soft smoothness that’s
yours with coil springs on all four wheels
(and wide Safety-Ride rims as well)—
When you see how neatly this beauty
slips into pocket-size parking places,
avoids “locked-horn” tangles, and threads
its way through traffic—
When you take in its roominess, see its
wide outlook, picture yourself traveling
in the sleek, taper-fender styling that
calls the turn on the smartest fashions
for 1950—
When you hear some of the miles-
per-gallon figures happy owners of
this beauty are reporting—
Man alive, this stands out as a bar-
gain that says, "Grab me quick!"
Actually, dealers have trouble
keeping this particular model
of the 1950 SPECIAL on hand. Quick
action may be able to nail one for you
_or a six-passenger model in 2-door
or 4-door body-type.
Why not see your dealer now—and start
the New Year as a Buick owner at a cost
that’s less than for some sixes?

Missionary Speaks Sunday Night
Bro. Joe Jenkins will speak
again for us Sunday night at the
7:30 preaching time. He will bring
pictures that will match the spirit
of the season, also giving us the
Christmas touch to the message,
which is so much the thought of
the moment and which missionary
work is the outgrowth of Christ-
mas. This will be a' heart-felt mes-
sage presented to the people who
will attend Sunday night. The
message and pictures brought by
Bro. Jenkins on December 4, was
heard and seen by a well filled
house of people. No doubt there
will be a grand gathering for this
Christmas - Missionary message.
Everybody welcome.
Christmas Program
All arrangements are being
made for the Christmas Program
to be rendered Wednesday night,
December 21, 7:30. From all ac-
counts there will be a very inter-
esting program, and of course, all
the children will be looking for
Santa to make his appearance just
about the right time and bring
them whatever he has for them.
Candy and fruits don’t last so long
but they are enjoyed as long as
they do last.
Associational Brotherhood
The Associational Brotherhood
meeting at Taft was attended by
145 of the men of Brotherhoods
over the Association. A very fine
turkey dinner, with all the trim-
mings and mince pie for dessert,
was served the men at 6:30. Then
followed the service with Bro.
James Roy Clark, Pastor of Mor-
gan Ave. Baptist Church, Corpus
Christi, bringing the message on
the subject: “An Appointment
With God.”
Associational Training Union
Meeting
At 2:30 p. m. the Associational
Training Union Meeting wil be
held in Beeville. Bro. J. K. Blue,
the Associational Director, always
has a wonderful program prepared
for the afternoon. A musical con-
cert precedes the regular Training
Union meeting, which is also in-
teresting.
Lottie Moon Week of Player for
Foreign Missions
Our women met the days of last
week and had their program of
Foreign Missions Week of Prayer-
Each day a program was rendered
and then on Friday, the meeting
began at ten and running through
the day down into the afternoon
with Mrs. Joe Jenkins coming to
speak to them about the mission
work and relating her and his de-
sires to serve the Lord in the
field to which they are to go very
soon now. When seeing that beam-
ing face of hers as she relates the
joy of service to the Lord in this
distant land and see the joyous
earnestness with which she spoke,
there can be no doubt about the
joy of serving the Lord even in
the places where missionaries are
not serving any denomination. They
go to a' new field of labor for and
with the Lord. This makes us want
to be sure we do what the Lord
commands us in the support of the
missionaries who have given them-
selves to serve wherever the Lord
doth lead.
Workers’ Conference at Portland
The Monthly Workers’ Confer-
ence was held with the First Bap-
tist Church of Portland last Tues-
day, beginning at 10:00 a. m. The
subject of the day was “Studying
The Bible.” Bro. Floyd Wren was
on program to discuss the point
of “Studying The Bible By Top-
ics”; Bro. Milton Dunn, “By
Characters”; Bro. Pipes “By Per-
iods”, Mrs. Harry, “By Doctrines”;
Bro. Huff, “By Use of Encyclo-
pedia”; Bro. Blalock, “By Use of
Concordance”; with the morning
message brought by Bro. Roy
Cooper, Pastor at Aransas Pass.
Lunch was served by the host
church and the board meetings of
both the WMU and Executive
Board were the order of service
for the afternoon.
Sunday School Attendance
Our goal for the Associational
year 1949-50 is 200 average. We
still have our average. How grand
and great it would be if we would
have no less than 200 EACH Sun-
day for the next two, one of them
being Christmas Day itself. Last
Sunday we had 227; that would be
so very fine to have that 227 or
more each Sunday the rest of this
year, 1949. Let’s do it. s

your Christmas tree!
Wiether you shop early or late, there’s no happier
Christmas gift than one to make life easier-like an
electric appliance.
Of course, it’s the power behind the appliance that
does the work—lends the homemaker an extra pair of
hands. This is merely a reminder that your friends
and neighbors in this company—under SQund busi»
ness management—have made electricity the biggest
bargain in your family budget. It’s a reminder that a
penny is still BIG money, when you spend it for
electric service.
