has completed her requirements
for a Bachelor of Science De-
gree.
The commencement exercises
were held at 2:30 p.m. In the
Brownwood Coliseum Sunday,
May 7.
Mrs. Studer Is the wife of
Charles Studer, District Soil
Conservationist for Goldth-

The largest number of sheep
and goats ever to be brought to
an auction lA Mills County was
put up for sale at the Mills
County Commission Company
Auction ring here Friday of last
week. Around 10,000 goats
brought here from around San
Antonio. All of them were not
sold. Sales totaled $38,792.
Norma Featherston, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Feathers-
ton of Goldthwaite and a gra-
duate of GHS of 1945-46 has
accepted the position of cashier
and PBX operator at the Hotel

Re-Elected To
State Senate
State Sen. Chet Brooks of
Pasadena, son of Mrs. Julia
Biddle of Goldthwalte. won no-
mination to a third Senate term
in the Democratic Primary. He
has no Republican opposition.
Sen. Brooks defeated his
challenger, a wealthy Houston
merchant, by a vote of 21,449 to
15.037 in unofficial returns.
The senator, one of only two
members of the Senate who vo-
ted against the controversial
banking bills linked with the
Sharps town scandal, has been a
champion of education and
health care legislation. He was
first elected to the Texas House
of Representatives In 1982. Af-
ter two House terms, he was e-
lected to the Senate In 1986.
