W. W. Ratliff cut and balled
hay for Hugh Nowell last week.
A. L. Crawford was a Coman-
che visitor Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Stone Shipman
were Athens visitors last week.
Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Swindle
visited relatives at Oustine on
Saturday.
I visited Mrs. Jewell Klrbo re-
cently and found them doing
nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Crawford
visited Miss Lola Stevens Tues-
day.
Mrs. O. L. Harris spent Wed-
nesday with Mrs. Winnie Mae
Kirby.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Nowell vi-
sited Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Porter
Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Willis Neal of Mount O-
live was happy when her name
was called as a prize winner at
the Central Texas Telephone
Co-op. It was the first time she
won anything.
Visitors of Mr. and Mrs. W. N.
Swindle included Mr. and Mrs.
Alfred Marwitz of Hamilton and
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marwitz of IJ-
verdale, Geoygia.
Mr. antrMrs. Stone Shipman,
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Runnels
and family and Mrs. Lola May
Shipman and family of Brown-
wood were Sunday visitors of
Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Shipman.
Mfs. Ida Dellis of Goldthwaite
fell and suffered a broken hip.
After surgery she is reported to
be improving satisfactorily. She
was a former resident of this
community. I am Sure she has a
few old neighbors and many
friends who wish her a speedy
recovery. Wg. wish all the sick
folks a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daniel and
family of Imperial spent the
weekend with their parents and
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Daniel.
Troy Ratliff spent last week-
end with his grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. W. Ratliff.
Mr and Mrs. Vernon Shep-
pard and family of Brownwood
were Sunday visitors of Mr. and
Mrs C. V. Whatley.
Mr and Mrs. W. W. Ratliff
spent the week with Mr. and
Mrs. Wayne Ratliff at their new
home in Denton. The Ratliffs
also visited Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Cook.

Eagles Stunned By Early Longhorns
The District 11-A Eagles were
upset by the Early Longhorns In
the final eight seconds of the
game last Friday night. The
game was at a stand-still, 20-20,
in the fourth quarter with Gold-
thwaite in possession of the ball.
The Eagle offensive attempted
a long pass which was Intercep-
ted by an Early Longhorn, who
ran the ball back for a TD
which ended the game 26-20.
The Eagle varsity squad look-
ed good in the' first half of the
game racking up thirteen points
to Early’s blx. Robin Reid made
the first TD and Bill Fisher
added the extra point. Larry El-
liott made the second TD from
five yards out to give the Eagles
the 13 to 6 advantage at the
half. The PAT was not goad.
Early broke loose during the
second period putting twenty
big points on the board.
In the fourth quarter Oold-
thwaite made their final TD
when Terry McLean went over
from the one on a quarterback
sneak. Fisher booted the extra
point.
“The boys had a good team
attitude Friday night which will
be a big advantage to start the
district games with,’’ stated Lea
slohnaon, Head CoactL " He also
said the offensive looked better
Friday night than they have
looked all season.

team came back after Their first
loss last Thursday, to crush the
Ranger “B“ team 33 to 6.
The Eagles played an out-
standing game on both offense
and defense.
The Eagles first score came In
the first quarter with Oeunaro
Siller carrying the ball over
from five yards out. Scott John-
son added the extra point to
get Ooldthwaite out ahead 7 to
0. In the second quarter QB Ray
Frazier scored from 20 yards
out on a QB keeper, but the try
for the two point conversion
failed
Fullback, Willie Balencla, add-
ed the Eagles third TD when he
carried the ball over from six
yards out. Again the extra point
failed. At halftime the score was
19 to 0, Eagles favor.
Ranger came back In the
third quarter for their only
score on a 36 yard drive. Try
for the extra point failed.
The Ooldthwaite Eagle Team
bounced back, to add two more
ID’s before the end of the
game. The first on
on-a good pans to end. Ricky
Wiggins, tor twenty-five yards.
Wilier drove It over from three
yards out for the.TD, Johnson
added the extra point to make
the scon 26 to 8.
