Mrs. Btha Boyd was
honored by residents and
staff of the Heritage House
with a Mother of the Year
award party on May II.
1978. She was alected by
popular vote by both resi-
dents and staff.
Floyd and Jo Spradley
sang two beautiful religious
songs, which Is Mrs. Boyd’s
favorite music. Sybil Head
accompanied them at the
piano. Bro. Roland Fry gave
a short review of her life
since he has known her. and
read and talked about soane
beautiful passages concern-
ing mothers from the scrip-
tures. Mrs. Boyd’s sister,
Alma Kiser, enlightened us
on some very comical and
serious things which hap-
pened in the life of Etha
Boyd. Bro. Butch Peach also
told at his acquaintance with
Mrs. Boyd and presented her
with a plaque while her
children, Eva Garland. Frank
and George McClung, rela-
tives, friends, residents and
staff looked on.
Sybil Head and Julian
Evans played those good old
favorites of by-gone days
while refreshments were be-
ing served.
The chosen colors of the
honoree were orchid and
white, which were used
throughout the party area. A
beautifully decorated cake
and punch were served to a
large number of relatives,
friends, residents and em-
ployees.
Mrs. Boyd Is certainly an
asset to our home. She
inspires and encourages us
daily. As she expressed at
the party, she hopes to be a
mother we can turn to when
the cares of daily life are
heavy upon us and we need
someone to talk with. So
many times have I entered
her room feeling depressed.
When I left I had been lifted
for above the trivial daily
cares of life and my mind
centered on those things of
divine nature. If only we had
mote mothers like her!
